Get Ready: AAASP Futsal Cup is Back!

We are proud to announce to all alumni of Escola Paroquial de São Pedro Comoro, Dili, that our friendly futsal tournament, commonly known as the AAASP Futsal Cup, will be officially organized by the alumni from the 2009 and 2019 batches.

Therefore, we would like to inform all alumni to begin preparing your teams to participate in this friendly tournament.

Together, we continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship among all alumni through the sport of futsal, which has become one of our key annual programs.

AAASP would like to congratulate our former students who have just completed their five-week 🇺🇸 exchange program through the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI).

1. Nêlcia Francisca Sozinha, an alumnus from the batch of 2017 participated in an exchange program at Northern Arizona University , focusing on the Civic Engagement theme.

2. Lucrecia Araújo dos Reis, an alumna from the batch of 2019, participated in an exchange program at California State University, focusing on the Natural Resources theme.

3. Portia de Jesus dos Santos, an alumna from the batch of 2019, participated in an exchange program at the University of Montana, focusing on the Natural Resources

YSEALI is an exchange programme supported by the 🇺🇸 government that aims to develop leadership and strengthen relations between the 🇺🇸 and ASEAN countries.

Its mission is to strengthen leadership development, foster networking, and enhance 🇺🇸 - Southeast Asia relations.

Let's introduce our alumni for this month!

Lorenio Lirio Fonseca is an alumnus of the Class of 2023, currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the University of Aured Vaicu in Ared, Romania. He is the first Timorese to receive a scholarship from the Romanian government and will also spend one semester studying abroad in Europe under the Erasmus program.

During his studies at Escola Paroquial de São Pedro, he was also involved in extracurricular activities, became a member of the student council to lead the art & music section, and won the São Pedro music band competition. Moreover, he is also a member of the São Pedro choir.

“During study at Escola Paroquial de São Pedro, I learned so many valuable things about discipline and punctuality, responsibility and prepared me to become a good leader for my society.” He said.

He also stated, "The best way to predict the future is to create it!"

Agora dadaun nia halao hela nia estudu nivel mestradu iha universidade ne'ebé hanesan, no mós hetan bolsa-estudu, no hein katak nia sei graduadu iha 2026.

Durante eskola sekundária, nia nu'udar membru ativu husi grupu siénsia no partisipa iha atividade estra-kurrikular oin-oin, hanesan voluntáriu iha Oratoriu Dom Bosco (2014-2016), Uma Amerika UNTL (2017), 3R Timor-Leste (2016), no Initiative for Peace (2016). Nia mós simu Access Micro-Scholarship Program (FYI13) husi 2014 to'o 2016.

Nia mós reprezenta Timor-Leste iha kompetisaun internasionál sira, inklui BIPA iha Indonezia (2017) no FYICGG iha Hungaria (2024), hatudu nia kompromisu ba excelensa akadémika no envolvimentu komunidade.

Meet our inspiring alumni of the month, whose journey continues to inspire us all!

Amália Margaretha Lucas, a 2016 alumna of São Pedro Senior High School, pursued a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at China Medical University under a Chinese Government Scholarship, graduating in June 2023. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the same university, also on scholarship, and is expected to graduate in 2026.

During high school, she was an active member of the drum band and Grupo Siensia and participated in various extracurricular activities outside of school, such as volunteering at Oratory Dom Bosco (2014–2016), Uma Amerika UNTL (2017), 3R Timor-Leste (2016), and the Initiative for Peace (2016). She was also a recipient of the Access Micro-Scholarship Program (FYI’13) from 2014 to 2016.

Beyond academics, Amália gained professional experience as a Sales Promoter at Konekto Company (2016–2017) and as a Project Facilitator at World Vision Timor-Leste (2020–2022). In 2020, she won second place, granted by the U.S. Embassy, for implementing the Mission Driven Alumni Outreach (MDAO) seed funding. She also represented Timor-Leste in international competitions, including BIPA in Indonesia (2017) and FYICGG in Hungary (2024), demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.
