To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect when I first arrived at Ban Huayphrab School. From the very first day, I was greeted with warm smiles, curious eyes, and a lot of “Teacher, hello!” moments that made my heart full. Living and teaching in Thailand is something completely new for me. Everything from the morning school bell to the food stalls outside has been a little adventure.
Yes, I’ve gotten lost (more than once), eaten something spicy without warning, and tried to mime my way through conversations, but somehow, I’m learning more each day. The students are so full of energy and kindness. Even if we don’t speak the same language fluently, we find ways to understand each other. Whether it’s through funny gestures, drawing on the whiteboard, or just laughing together, there’s always a connection.
What really touched me is how much effort the teachers put into making the school feel like a second home. From planning fun activities to checking in on me, they’ve shown me what true dedication looks like. They care deeply about their students, and their warmth has made me feel supported since day one. It’s inspiring, and it pushes me to give my best every single day.
Ban Huayphrab School may be tucked away in a small town, but it’s filled with big hearts, big dreams, and unforgettable moments. The sense of community here is something special, and I feel lucky to be a part of it. I already know it’s going to be hard to leave when the time comes. Until then, I’ll cherish every moment.
