Looking for Large Timber Offcuts

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some large round timber/tree-trunk offcuts, ideally around 20–50 cm in diameter.

They’ll be used for outdoor seating, games and children’s nature-learning activities, so I’m hoping to find some reasonably priced or unwanted pieces that could be given a new life.

If anyone has any contacts for tree surgeons, timber yards, sawmills, landowners, or anyone who may have suitable logs/offcuts available, I’d really appreciate an introduction or recommendation.

Thank you!

Some discoveries at the Wild place today, which we all found very exciting. We saw inside a termites nest, a chunk of old honeycomb and an abandoned egg. We also spotted a monitor lizard, but he made off into the vegetation.

We’ve started Wild Wednesdays with Pathfinders. We’ll be spending the afternoon studying environmental education, diving into the world of herbs and Wild Place activities. Today’s herb of the day was BASIL — Red, Buffalo and Holy Basil, all growing in our garden. A plant that is great for both the digestive and nervous systems. The children observed each plant, and drew it, tasted freshly made basil tea ( thank you to our tea maker Jacob) and created beautiful nature‑inspired artwork.

Dicovery Tuesdays Together
**27 Oct • 3 Nov • 10 Nov**

For families who love gentle, hands-on learning, we’re running three Tuesday experiences that connect beautifully with the curriculum, and each one comes with a simple, child-friendly workbook to support learning at home.

**Horse Experience**
Care, empathy, observation — linking to science, wellbeing, and literacy.

**Survival Skills & Nature Crafts**
Survival basics, outdoor awareness, creative making — supporting science, geography, art, and problem‑solving.

**Ziplining & Archery**
Confidence, coordination, measurement, teamwork — connecting with PE, maths and personal development.

Each Tuesday stands alone, but together they create a lovely little learning journey for curious minds.

**Tuesdays only:** 27 Oct • 3 Nov • 10 Nov

Welcome to the WP Café!Today’s delicious menu included Scrambled Snake and Gruffalo Crumble! The children became chefs, creating their imaginative dishes using sand, water and natural materials. They didn’t stop there, they also designed their own menu writing the names of their dishes and adding their very own prices.A fantastic combination of imaginative play, creativity, early writing and maths skills. Well done, little chefs!

We’re excited to explore deeper into our new site while staying committed to safety guidelines. Even though some creatures in our guide may be rare sightings, we believe it’s important to know how to handle any encounters safely, no matter where they happen.
