Recorded in our history, we remember with gratitude and respect the passing of three pioneers who were instrumental in building community medicine at CICM, Thammasat University from the very beginning. This was when we first brought students into communities and worked to integrate pre-clinical, clinical, biostatistics, and ethics into one meaningful whole. Assistant Professor Dr. Junya Pattaraarchachai was the first to leave us, followed not long after by Professor Dr. Somboon Kietinun, and most recently Associate Professor Dr. Patchara Wisutkul.
They did not simply teach knowledge; they shaped how we think, why we do this work, and what truly matters. They defined the direction of CICM, grounded in community, evidence, and a firm ethical foundation, far beyond the reach of uninformed, superficial, or historically ungrounded judgments from those who never understood its origins.
They carried this work for years, building and pushing forward until it could stand on its own. Their absence is deeply felt, but what they built remains. Their thinking, their values, and their spirit continue to guide us.
To the new generation and future students of community medicine: take pride in this chapter of history, and recognize that what you are stepping into was not built from nothing, but shaped by the conviction, effort, and intellect of those who came before you.
