🌊🏳️🌈 Happy World Oceans Day & Happy Pride Month, AIT Family 💚🌍
This June, we celebrate both diversity and sustainability — values that inspire us to build a stronger and more inclusive community 🌈🌱
Since the launch of our recycling initiative, the AIT community has recycled 2,492.83 kg of materials, helping reduce waste and protect our environment and oceans ♻️🌊
📌 In this collection round, we recycled 19.08 kg of waste:
• Stretchable Plastic: 7.43 kg
• Hard Plastic: 9.17 kg
• Multi-Layer Packaging: 1.43 kg
• E-waste: 1.05 kg
Every kilogram recycled reflects our shared commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future ✨
Together, let’s continue protecting our oceans, reducing waste, and celebrating diversity, equality, and inclusion. Every small action creates a positive impact 🌊💙

The Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) Program, AIT Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Asian Institute of Technology, successfully hosted the Waste-to-Resource Management Immersion Program from 1–4 June 2026. Led by Dr. Anish Ghimire, Assistant Professor in the EEM Program, this four-day applied learning initiative brought together 12 dedicated professionals from the Department of Public Health Engineering, Local Government Division, Economic Division, and municipalities across Bangladesh.
Designed to strengthen practical capacity in modern integrated solid waste management, the program combined expert-led technical sessions at AIT with immersive field visits to key waste management facilities across Bangkok and surrounding provinces. Participants gained first-hand exposure to the municipal waste value chain, exploring waste collection and transfer systems, material recovery facilities (MRFs), waste-to-energy operations, and engineered landfills.
Throughout the program, participants engaged in interactive lectures, technical discussions, and site visits that highlighted innovative approaches for transforming waste into valuable resources. The exchange of experiences, active participation, and thoughtful discussions created a dynamic learning environment and strengthened understanding of sustainable waste management solutions and circular economy practices.
We are grateful to the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP (UNDP) Bangladesh for its valuable support in making this program possible. Through this collaboration, participants were able to deepen their technical knowledge, gain practical insights from real-world facilities, and explore strategies that can be adapted to their local contexts.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants, speakers, partners, and host facilities who contributed to the success of this program. The enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment demonstrated throughout the week made this a truly rewarding learning experience for everyone involved. 🌱💙
We look forward to continuing our collaboration and supporting future leaders in advancing sustainable waste management, resource recovery, and circular economy solutions across the region.
