🟫 The Brown Stairs activity develops a child’s discrimination of dimensions, helping her to understand the concepts of thick and thin, wide and narrow. It also fosters the practice of concentration through the arranging of the ten prisms from thickest to thinnest.

🧮 Indirectly, this activity prepares the child for math by exploring sequence, dimension, proportion, leading to the understanding of squares and the decimal system.

👍 Also, in the language area the child is introduced with the comparative and superlative vocabulary: thick - thicker - thickest, narrow - narrower - narrowest.

👀✋Further, the eyes are trained to perceive subtle differences in width and thickness. In the fine and gross motor skills area purposeful movement, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination are gained.
