B Swing Lindy

Between routine work/choreography and improvisation/adlib, i much prefer improvisation. Its alive. Spontaneous and in the moment. Choreography is "dead" in a way. Drills are different. Drills are repetition for body and muscle memory and while boring, they cannot be skipped.
Slides are always organic, depending on the floor. A little further or a little bit shorter.

This song here - Pudding Head Serendade by Andy Kirk's band, is a masterpiece.

1930s charlestons. I ve been told it is getting more rare to see on our local Singapore dancefloors as balboa's popularity increases and many dancers switch to bal when the tempo increases. Balboa was never part of lindy hop, as far as my knowledge goes whereas charleston was always part of it, from the very beginning, from the late 20s. I love 30s charlestons, it's dynamic, it's unique, it's fun, it helps at fast tempos, it's traditional.

This was a great class. Students went away with a deeper understanding about stretch, elasticity and more awareness in general, of movement, footwork and dynamic.

Slide practice/ jazz / rhythms improvisation

Starting a new class series for street dancers, house dancers, hip hop and other urban style dancers who are interested to learn a bit of solo (authentic) jazz and tap dance to enrich their dance journey and enhance their own dance process.

My speciality is in the jazz dances of the 1920s to 1940s, including tap, charleston and vernacular jazz, all of which are predecessors to the modern day dances like house, soul, funk, hip hop etc. Come learn a bit of history and a bit of old school at the same time.
