🎹✨ Piano Private Lesson with Prof. Hiroshi Yamane

A glimpse into the Piano Private Lesson held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at PIANIST WITH LOVE International School of Music.

Students had the valuable opportunity to participate in one-to-one private lessons with Prof. Hiroshi Yamane, an internationally recognized Japanese pianist and piano educator. Each student received individualized guidance in various aspects of piano performance, including playing technique, musical interpretation, tone production, effective use and coordination of the body while playing, as well as finer musical details.

Through this personalized instruction, students were able to deepen their understanding of the music and further develop their performance skills with greater awareness and confidence.

We sincerely thank Prof. Hiroshi Yamane for sharing his expertise, experience, and inspiration with all of our students. We would also like to thank the students and parents for being part of this meaningful and enriching learning experience.

📍 🎹 “We can rarely play beyond what our ears are able to imagine.”

When our ears learn to recognize a beautiful sound, the body gradually learns how to create that sound as well.

Before becoming a skilled pianist, we often spend a great deal of time developing finger technique, coordination, and music-reading skills. Yet there is another element that is equally important: regularly listening to high-quality piano performances.

Many people recommend listening to music with full attention, or engaging in Active Listening. From my own experience, however, I have found that both attentive listening and more relaxed, passive listening can be valuable, although they may contribute to learning in different ways.

Active Listening allows us to examine the details of a performance more consciously. We may listen for musical structure, phrasing, the relationship between different voices, timing, tonal colour, articulation, and the interpretative decisions made by the performer.

By contrast, relaxed or less consciously focused listening does not require us to analyse every detail. We may listen while reading, cooking, creating art, or engaging in other activities that do not demand our full auditory attention. This type of listening can create a rich sonic environment in which the brain is repeatedly exposed to musical patterns and qualities of sound in a more natural way. Over time, some of these qualities may gradually become part of our deeper, more intuitive musical perception.

Regardless of how we listen, hearing high-quality piano playing is not merely an act of enjoying beautiful music. It can also become part of a process of Auditory Learning.

Through repeated exposure to refined examples of sound, the brain gradually develops an Internal Sound Model—an internal representation of how we want the music to sound.

This internal model may include elements such as Tone, Sound Quality, Legato, Touch, Timing, Texture, balance, and the overall spatial and expressive character of the sound.

When we return to the piano, the brain begins to compare the sound we actually produce with the sound we internally imagine. When the result does not yet match that internal reference, the motor system gradually searches for more effective ways of coordinating movement in order to bring the produced sound closer to the intended musical outcome.

This is one of the important processes involved in Motor Learning, in which auditory perception, musical imagination, and the control of physical movement continuously interact with one another.

For this reason, developing as a pianist does not begin with the fingers alone. It may begin with what we hear, what we imagine, and the standard of sound we gradually build within ourselves.

As our ears become more refined, our expectations of sound become more precise. In response, the body can gradually learn to organize movement more efficiently in service of that musical intention.

Japan String Teachers Association (JASTA), known in Japanese as 一般社団法人 日本弦楽指導者協会 (Nihon Gengaku Shidōsha Kyōkai).

JASTA is one of Japan’s longest-established and largest professional organisations dedicated to string education. Its nationwide membership comprises more than 700 distinguished teachers, performers, and specialists in violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

The association organises a wide range of significant educational and musical activities, including the annual JASTA Summer Workshop, the national JASTA String Festival, masterclasses, open lessons, professional development programmes for string teachers, and ongoing competitions and educational opportunities for young musicians.

This remarkable recognition reflects Prof. Prapansak’s longstanding dedication, invaluable contribution, and distinguished service to music education and the international string community.

JASTA เป็นหนึ่งในองค์กรวิชาชีพด้านการเรียนการสอนเครื่องสายที่เก่าแก่และมีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดของประเทศญี่ปุ่น มีสมาชิกมากกว่า 700 คนทั่วประเทศ ประกอบด้วยอาจารย์ นักแสดง และผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านไวโอลิน วิโอลา เชลโล และดับเบิลเบส

A meaningful music education is not simply about winning awards. It is about understanding what you already do well, identifying areas that need further development, and learning how to continue growing as a musician.

The International Music Performance Assessment 2026 is an individual performance assessment designed for young musicians. Rather than competing against one another, participants will be evaluated according to clearly defined performance criteria, with the primary goal of supporting each student’s musical development.

Each participant will be assessed by a distinguished international panel of adjudicators from Thailand and Japan, all of whom have extensive experience in music education, professional performance, and adjudication at international events.

✨ A New and Comprehensive Assessment Format

Our newly developed assessment system provides detailed, practical, and constructive feedback through:

✅ Detailed scoring for each assessment criterion
✅ A strengths checklist highlighting the participant’s achievements
✅ An areas-for-improvement checklist identifying specific aspects for further development
✅ Personalized written feedback from the adjudicators

Participants will receive much more than a final score. They will gain a clearer understanding of:

🎯 Which aspects of their performance should be developed further
🎯 How they can practise more effectively
🎯 Their individual strengths and musical potential

The assessment report can serve as a practical guide for systematic musical development and help students prepare for future music examinations, competitions, auditions, and advanced music studies.

International Music Performance Assessment 2026 จัดขึ้นเพื่อเป็น เวทีประเมินผลการเรียนดนตรีรายบุคคล สำหรับเยาวชน โดยมุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาศักยภาพของผู้เรียน มากกว่าการแข่งขันกับผู้อื่น

ผู้เข้าร่วมทุกคนจะได้รับการประเมินจาก คณะกรรมการผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิระดับนานาชาติจากประเทศไทยและประเทศญี่ปุ่น ซึ่งมีประสบการณ์ด้านการสอน การแสดง และการตัดสินในเวทีระดับนานาชาติ
