Understand that the veterinary industry, just like many others, has commercial ties with industries supporting animal ag (or other unethical industries). Stay vigilant, maintain critical thinking, and always follow the money 🤑

It won't be long before we also see commerical plant based diets accepted for cats too (we know how triggering this can be for people, so keep calm folks!) but this is certainly good news for doggo parents wanting peace of mind knowing they're feeding their dogs a healthy diet that does not include the body parts of other animals 💚💚💚

I remember a poster like this in the biology lab at school and first hearing the term "biophilia," the "urge to affiliate with other forms of life." Maybe humans have this urge because we are them, and they are us. We share a common lineage and are interconnected down to our very core DNA.

We share characteristics of anatomy and physiology. I think deep down, humans instinctively know that the creatures we inhabit this planet with are our brothers and sisters, not our possessions, food, toys, or commodities. We've all heard the saying "here with us, not for us," and this couldn't be more true.

As I traverse this earth and my life, while many questions remain unanswered, one truth I know is that being vegan is absolutely right. It's not a choice for me; it's a deep knowledge and something I don't need to question.

I wasn't always vegan, and I understand those who have not yet tapped into what I believe the vast majority of us already know—that commodifying, exploiting, and killing fellow inhabitants of this incredible planet is wrong. I hope in my lifetime that more non-vegans and vegetarians will allow themselves to awaken to this truth.

If anyone wishes to discuss veganism in a non-confrontational way, please feel free to DM me. Arguing isn't the answer, and I understand that some people find the concept of veganism triggering. I think that is them arguing with themselves, against the truth they already know.

My teenage self, looking at the biology poster and thinking about the concept of biophilia and my love of nature, didn't understand a thing about veganism on a cognitive level. But there was that pull from within, the unconscious trying to let me know. It led to me becoming vegetarian, a veterinarian, and a vegan 💚

I saw a post that was captioned with something along the lines of 'everybody likes vegan food pics because they're not controversial'. And it's actually so true!

Is it the algorithm or is it people's preferences to maybe gloss over content that is maybe more meaningful or confronting?
