Simple lesson.
Sleep is not just the number of hours.
It is how well your body actually recovers.
If something feels off for months, pay attention.
Your body usually speaks quietly before it gets loud.

I never used to snore. This year I started, and I only found out because it woke me up.
I sleep about 7 hours a night. On paper that’s fine. It still felt off and I ignored it for months.
Two things made me look. I couldn’t get a full breath in holding a brace before a deadlift. And I was waking up hearing myself.
So I recorded it. Didn’t expect it to be that bad.
Spray and saline every day since. Nose is a bit clearer.
I’m 42. If I’m tired I don’t load the bar. Which makes this matter more than the training does.
Recording it doesn’t fix anything. It just means you know something changed, and you’ve got something to show a doctor instead of a feeling.
App’s in the comments. And tell me what else I’m not measuring 🙏
On 9 January 2026 I pulled 170kg. Best lift of my life.
A month later 157.5 wouldn’t move. Then my back popped on 140, a weight I’d pulled for a year.
The lift that beat me came after my best one, not before it. It was never the weight. It was how I was lifting it.
I started lifting at 40. No trainer, no coach, self taught the whole way, which is exactly why this happened.
What changed was the form. Breathing, bracing, a position I can hold. If I can’t get there in my head, I stop. The bar’s still there tomorrow.
Got back to 162.5 clean. Then I ended up in hospital for something unrelated, colitis, four days on a drip. Back in now, light and slow.
No target date. Just rebuilding the thing that broke.
Stack: Hevy, Cal AI, Zepp Life, SnoreLab. That’s it.
Next post is the sleep fix.
The secret is lying to yourself. 162.5kg today, brain thought it was 60. 😅
Jokes aside. New best.
5kg up from my first heavy single this block. 2.5kg up from last week. 2.33x bodyweight at 42.
The number isn’t the point. No ego jumps. Just building one single at a time.
4 months ago my back had me starting over. Now 170 is close.
Chasing it.
60kg to 132.5kg. Chasing 170.
