Launch of KSGtEC Collaborative Excellence Center

In parallel with the IFAC 2025 opening, Kasetsart University celebrated the official launch of the Kasetsart University–Salus Biomed–Gibthai Collaborative Excellence Center (KSGtEC), a national platform dedicated to cutting-edge research and innovation in agricultural and environmental genomics.

The ceremony featured a special address by Mr. Nivest Prayoonthien, President of 3N Holding Group, who emphasized the collaboration between Gibthai Company Limited and Kasetsart University.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wanchai Pluempanupat, Dean of the Faculty of Science, presented a formal report detailing the Faculty’s leadership in establishing the Center.
The official opening remarks were delivered by Asst. Prof. Khongsak Thiangtum, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Lifelong Learning.

The event welcomed distinguished guests from the following national and international organizations:

Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Cooperation Center, Bangkok
Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation
Department of Fisheries
Department of Livestock Development
National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT)
National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)
Institute of Animals for Scientific Purposes Development (IAD)
Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning

The program continued with a special presentation by Dr. Wang GuFeng, Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Salus Biomed, titled “From Next Generation Sequencing to Next Generation Biotechnology: Developing High Resolution SNP Micro-Arrays for Molecular Breeding.”

To commemorate the launch, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, led by senior executives and collaborators, symbolizing a shared commitment to scientific excellence, innovation, and cross-sector cooperation.

Kasetsart University proudly hosted the opening ceremony of the 2nd International Food Animal Conference (IFAC 2025) at its Bangkok campus. The event was formally inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Kornsorn Srikulnath, Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization and Chair of the Organizing Committee.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Felix Teillard, Consultant for Livestock and Biodiversity at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). His talk, titled “Livestock and Sustainability: Contradiction or Opportunity for Sector Transformation”, provided insightful perspectives on the future of sustainable livestock systems.

The IFAC 2025 conference will continue tomorrow, 19 August 2025, with sessions under three major themes:
• Domestic Animal Genetics and Breeding Strategies
• Innovations in Animal Breeding and Nutrition
• Ethical, Cultural, and Welfare Considerations
