🌬️ The Wind Really Matters Here - What Would You Do?

This school has more than 300 students and is located around two hours from Chiang Mai City.

Strong winds affect the school throughout the year. Banana trees rarely have complete, beautiful leaves. The school has to replace its flags more often than most schools, but the problem is much bigger than flags.

During strong winds, parts of the roofs can become loose or fly away. When the rainy season comes, damaged roofs cause water leakage, which may also create electrical risks and unsafe learning conditions for the students.

We are now exploring the possibility of developing a meaningful service project for this school not just a one-day repair, but a practical and sustainable solution.

We would love to hear your ideas:

How could we help this school live safely with strong winds throughout the year?

Should the project focus on:

+ Creating natural windbreaks
+ Strengthening roofs and school buildings
+ Improving electrical and water-leakage safety
+ Planting suitable trees for this environment
+ Creating a student-led weather and wind monitoring project
+ Bringing together engineers, environmental experts, sponsors, volunteers, and the community

Are there any architects, engineers, electricians, landscape specialists, environmental organisations, companies, or community members who would be interested in helping us study and develop this project?

The wind may be impossible to stop, but together, we may be able to reduce its impact on the safety and education of more than 300 children.

Something meaningful is growing at GrowCations. 🐘🌿

We are now working on an Ethical Elephant Sanctuary Service Learning Project - an experience designed around three connected forms of wellbeing:

Elephants are respected as elephants, not used for entertainment. Participants will learn through responsible observation, understand natural elephant behaviour, and discover why ethical care means giving elephants greater freedom, choice, space, and dignity.

Elephant wellbeing also depends on the people and communities around them. Our project will support meaningful learning and service connected to caretakers, local families, community livelihoods, safety, and long-term wellbeing.

A healthy forest means food, water, shade, movement, and a better future for elephants. Participants will contribute to activities connected to habitat restoration, natural resources, biodiversity, and environmental responsibility.

This will not be just another elephant visit. It will be an opportunity to observe with respect, serve with purpose, and understand how animals, people, and nature must thrive together.
