Wai Kru & Khrob Kru Chang Ceremony 2026 🙏🏻

On September 10, 2026, the College of Design and the Faculty of Architecture jointly hosted our annual Wai Kru & Khrob Kru Chang Ceremony.

This long-standing tradition holds deep significance for artists, designers, and architects. Wai Kru is a heart-warming occasion where students show respect and gratitude to their teachers, while Khrob Kru Chang is a sacred blessing ritual that bestows inspiration, confidence, and protection upon artists and creators.

A special highlight of this year's ceremony was the enthusiastic participation of
international students, who joined to experience and learn about this unique aspect of Thai artistic culture firsthand.

The ceremony officially commenced with opening remarks by Asst. Prof. Sirada Vaiyavatjamai, Dean of the College of Design, and concluded with closing remarks delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Aviruth Charoensup, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture.

🎓 Strengthening International Partnerships & Academic Excellence 🌍✨

The College of Design, Rangsit University, is honored to announce that Asst. Prof. Dr. Danu Phumalee, Head of the Visual Communication Design Program, has been invited to serve as an International Jury Member for ULTIGRAPH 2026, hosted by Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), Indonesia.

In this international role, Asst. Prof. Dr. Danu Phumalee is participating in the curation stage, reviewing and evaluating 120 graphic design entries from international applicants.

🏛️ About ULTIGRAPH 2026
Organized under the theme "Festara: Let's Play!", ULTIGRAPH 2026 is a major international graphic design festival featuring key competitions such as Design Jungle Gym and IP Arcade, evaluated through the Sustainable Development 3P framework (People, Planet, Profit).

The College of Design is honored to be invited to join the jury panel and contribute to this meaningful event, empowering the next generation of international designers.

Our thoughts are especially with our partner institutions and organizations, our Nepali students and alumni, their families and loved ones, and all communities affected by this tragedy.

During this incredibly difficult time, we stand together with the people of Nepal. We send our thoughts, strength, and hope to those who have lost loved ones, those who remain affected, and everyone working tirelessly in the rescue, relief, and recovery efforts.

✨ Official Welcome: Exchange Students from Finland

The College of Design is pleased to extend its warmest welcome to exchange students from Tampere University, Finland, who are joining us for the current academic semester under our international exchange initiative.

The students will be pursuing coursework within the Department of Photography & Media, engaging in dynamic creative exploration and academic collaboration. They were officially received by Assistant Professor Sirada Vaiyavatjamai, Dean of the College of Design, alongside Dr. Suthasinee Sangkhum, Associate Dean for International Affairs and Strategic, together with representatives from the Rangsit Internation Office (RIO).

🎨 College of Design Freshmen Orientation 2026

The College of Design successfully organized its annual Freshmen Orientation on August 21–22, 2026. Jointly hosted by the College of Design International Affairs and the Student Affairs Department, the two-day program aimed to prepare incoming students for their academic journey and build a strong sense of community within the faculty.

The event officially commenced with opening remarks delivered by Asst. Prof. Sirada Vaiyavatjamai, who extended a warm welcome to the new cohort.

Day 1: Orientation & Academic Briefing (August 21)
Introduction of Faculty Members & Executive Committee: An overview of the academic team and leadership supporting student development.

- International Student Briefing: Essential guidelines on academic regulations, student welfare, and campus life presented by the Regional Information Office (RIO).
- Musical Performance: A featured live performance by the RIC Music Club 🎶
- Student Union Engagement Session: Interactive icebreaking activities facilitated by the Student Union to foster peer connections.

Day 2: Cultural & Design Study Trip (August 22)
Students participated in an educational day trip to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, exploring historical landmarks, traditional architecture, and ancient design heritage under the guidance of professional tour experts. The trip provided students with practical design inspiration and an opportunity to establish lasting friendships.

🎨✨ Creative Energy Unleashed: ART TOY & ILLUSTRATION INCUBATION AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The College of Design hosted the Art Toy & Illustration Incubation and Development Program on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at River City Bangkok. The event served as a platform to exhibit innovative character designs, prototype Art Toys, and original illustration projects developed by emerging talent.

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Mrs. Yuthika Isarangkura Na Ayuthaya, Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, alongside Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirada Vaiyavatjamai, Dean of the College of Design, who jointly presided over the official inauguration and delivered the opening remarks.

A major feature of the proceedings was the Young Artist Award Ceremony, which formally recognized outstanding student creators for their creative excellence and innovation in Art Toy design. 🏆

Following the official ceremony, distinguished guests and attendees participated in a guided exhibition tour, viewing the creative displays and engaging with the student artists. The exhibition attracted widespread public engagement across various demographics, including art collectors, industry professionals, and academic peers.

The College of Design successfully hosted its annual Freshmen Orientation and Community Bonding Event, bringing together domestic Thai and international students to foster cross-cultural engagement and academic integration.

The event commenced with opening remarks by
Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirada Vaiyavatjamai, Dean of the College of Design, who officially welcomed the incoming cohort and shared inspiring words regarding creative excellence and community values.

The program featured collaborative ice-breaking sessions designed to promote unity, followed by the traditional Thai Wrist-Tying Ceremony—a meaningful ritual symbolizing goodwill, academic mentorship, and the enduring bond between faculty, senior students, and freshmen.

Inspiring the next generation of global creatives! From July 15–17, 2026 the International College and the College of Design hosted an engaging 3-day online academic orientation tailored specifically for international school students in Myanmar. 🏫

The virtual event featured comprehensive insights into our innovative academic programs, curriculum pathways, and campus life at Rangsit University. A major highlight was the live Q&A and Interactive Session with our current international students, who candidly shared their personal academic journeys, creative experiences, and tips on adapting to university life. 💬💡

Filled with vibrant discussions, fun interactive mini-activities, and great enthusiasm, the session provided prospective students with an authentic taste of our supportive learning environment.

Preserving the essence of Thai heritage. On July 16, 2026, the College of Design proudly joined the grand annual Wai Kru (Teacher’s Day) Ceremony. This revered tradition serves as a profound expression of gratitude, humility, and respect from students toward their educators.

The auspicious ceremony witnessed unity across the campus, brought to life by the active participation of student representatives from every faculty. Dressed in elegant attire, our students meticulously crafted and presented traditional floral trays (Phan Wai Kru), symbolizing the blossoming of wisdom, discipline, and intellect passed down through generations.

This grand assembly not only underscores our academic solidarity but also highlights the university's enduring commitment to preserving beautiful Thai cultural traditions within a modern, diverse educational ecosystem. 🌍✨
