Huay Pu Kaeng Village Self-Reliance Workshops

Huay Pu Kaeng Refugee Village is working towards mutually empowering tourism! We are teaching self-reliance to increase self-reliance.

Huay Pu Keng Refugee Village is moving away from the 'human zoo experience' and is engaging in mutually empowering tourism! We are working towards sustainability and self-reliance and have started to host workshops which teach self-reliance to increase self-reliance. So, we will teach you awesome traditional self-reliance skills, in order to increase our own self-reliance through income generation

and move away from donor dependance! Our workshops and events will be hosted in our beautiful village located along the Pai River, in the jungles of Mae Hong Son on the Thailand Burma border (about 30 minutes from Mae Hong Son). https://goo.gl/maps/YnHwsu7axaJ2

Our village is one of the three original and authentic villages of displaced Kayan people from Myanmar. We villagers are working together to move away from the 'human zoo' tourism models that have been associated with our people in Thailand. Our Rotterdam office is participating at the Erasmus Sustainability Days.

On Thursday together with Fair Tourism, FlyGRN and Ecobnb/Vegotel we will take part in the panel: Remaking the Tourism Industry.

We are looking forward to the debate and to talk with students about our approach to sustainable tourism.

We are now WELCOMING everyone to our village EVERY 1ST WEEKEND OF THE MONTH to come get to know our village and learn our traditional skills - starting 3 & 4 FEBRUARY (skipping ONLY the smokey months of April & May).
