Intro: Dive into this flavorful Cajun steak and shrimp pasta that combines robust spices and creamy goodness for a dish that’s simply irresistible! Perfect for a weeknight dinner or special occasion!
Ingredients:
- 12 oz fettuccine or penne pasta
- 8 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for shrimp)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 (10-12 oz) ribeye or sirloin steak
- 1 tsp Cajun seasoning (for shrimp)
- 1 tsp Cajun seasoning (for steak)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for steak)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Start by cooking the pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. Prepare the Cajun steak: Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, and 1 tsp Cajun seasoning. In a skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and allow it to rest for 5 minutes. After resting, slice it into thin strips.
3. Cook the Cajun shrimp: In a bowl, toss the shrimp with 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp Cajun seasoning, and 1 tsp garlic powder. In the same skillet used for the steak, heat to medium and add the shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Once cooked, remove from the heat.
4. Make the Cajun pasta sauce: In the same skillet, lower the heat and add 2 tbsp of butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Next, add the grated Parmesan cheese, 1 tsp Cajun seasoning, and 1/2 tsp paprika. Allow the sauce to simmer, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
5. Combine: Add the cooked pasta into the skillet, mixing well to coat the pasta evenly with the creamy sauce. Stir in the diced tomatoes for a fresh touch.
6. Serve: Plate the pasta, then top generously with the sliced steak and the cooked shrimp. Finish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.
