🚨 Digital violence is real, rising, and deeply harmful.

As part of the 16 Days of Activism, we concluded our digital campaign with a powerful multi-sector policy dialogue, bringing together government, ICT institutions, women’s rights groups, academia, development partners and other key stakeholders to strengthen coordination, protection, accountability, and survivor-centered responses to online abuse in South Sudan.

A special thank you to UNFPA South Sudan , National Communication Authority - NCA, Embassy of Canada to South Sudan, Ma’Mara Sakit Village and SafetyComm South Sudan for your partnership and invaluable contributions to both the digital campaign and the event. We must unmute: online and offline.

Today, we break down the reality: platforms are not equal when it comes to protecting women and girls online.

Some enforce. Some delay. Some barely show up.

Understanding these gaps is the first step to demanding better standards, stronger reporting tools, and real accountability.

As part of the I6 days of Activism campaign, the National Communication Authority - NCA, through the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), is highlighting the official channels available for reporting digital abuse and online harms.

These national escalation pathways are designed to support individuals facing Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV), complementing the reporting tools already available within social media platforms.

CERT provides a trusted avenue for incidents that require further investigation, protection, or coordinated response. Below are the channels you can use to seek help and report harmful online activity.

While escalation to authorities and trusted partners is always an available option when digital abuse occurs, the National Communication Authority - NCA also encourages users to take advantage of the reporting tools and safety features built into each social media platform. These platform-specific actions offer practical, immediate steps individuals can take to protect themselves from Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence .

In celebration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Act Alliance members came together under the theme: "Protect Women and Girls from Digital Violence, Abuse, and Exploitation." On December 2, 2025, our mentorship director Yine Yenki led an informative session on digital violence's impact on young girls and women in South Sudan.

Yine shared personal stories and insights to empower Act Alliance staff and presented initial research on digital safety, highlighting the contributions of sister organizations GoGirls ICT Initiative and Ma’Mara Sakit Village. Her participation as a panelist in a discussion about digital violence encouraged interaction and addressed legal gaps and proactive measures for stakeholders.

Religious leaders present pledged to advocate for "safer digital spaces" and engage their communities in this critical dialogue. A safe digital space is a collective and collaborative effort 👌.Through this event 13 member organizations of the Alliance were engaged.

Today we highlight the patterns of TFGBV documented through SafetyComm and partner networks. These are not isolated incidents; they reflect recurring behaviours shaping the digital lives of women and girls in South Sudan.TFGBV is deliberate, patterned, and rooted in control. Naming it is the first step toward ending it.
