Dear public,
NURSES ARE NOT TRAINED BY MEDICAL DOCTORS!
Nurses are trainable, but by Nurse Educators who possess a minimum requirement in Nursing Education, MSN, PH.D.
Nurses share their opinion with Medical doctors and they both learn from one another.
Nurses have their Dependent roles, independent and collaborative roles with other members of the medical team which includes Medical Doctors, Public Health, Pharmacists, Radiographers, Scientists, etc.
Just like every other professional like Engineers, Educationalist, pharmacists, etc. A Nurse can become a Doctor(Doctor of Nursing practice.DNP)
Those people you see wearing White undergoing training in private hospitals are not Nurses but "QUACKS" AKA "AUXILIARY NURSES"(Nurses are not trained in private clinics)
HOW TO IDENTIFY A QUACK
1)They are the ones that have no means of identification. (A registered Nurse has a valid license issued by the Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria)
2)They are the ones that shout 'Doctor what should I do during an emergency'(Nurses have knowledge and skill to manage any Emergency pending the arrival of a Doctor)
3)They are the ones that write an agreement with medical Doctors and celebrate freedom after 6 months of training (Nurses celebrate convocation after 5years of training and are admitted into an accredited institution after passing his or her qualifying entrance examination and interview)
4)They are the ones you see mostly on TV series that gossip about patients and share patients information with a third party without the consent of a patient. (Nurses are bounded by ethics to uphold every privileged information with confidentiality)
5)They are the ones you see carrying the doctor's bag on his/her arrival
6)They are the ones that wear their uniforms which contain microbes into the market during break or after the closure of duty
7)They are the ones that give your baby who is not up to 9 months old injection on the buttocks(The gluteal muscles are not well-formed until 6 months to 1 year)
8)They are the ones that answer 'yes, sir, please sir, Abeg sir, ' to doctors(Nurses interact with team members in a professional manner
NB: A quack is a person who is not registered and licensed to practice a profession but is practicing a professional
NOT EVERYONE WEARING WHITE IS A NURSE!!
A Nurse is an individual who have acquired a specialised knowledge and skill from an accredited institution and licenced to practice and provide collaborative, dependent and independent care to Families, individuals and people in a community.
What is Nursing Practice: Nursing practice is a holistic, patient-centered profession.
Nurses assess, monitor, and evaluate changes in patients’ health status, develop patient
individualized care plans, and deliver clinical nursing interventions. They are usually the
front-line of health care delivery, thereby playing a critical role in identifying and
responding to any changes in patients’ health status, preventing or minimizing g adverse
events/reactions, and also supporting patients physically, emotionally, and
psychologically throughout their care journey.
