Something so simple that it should be common sense, yet I bet many of you would be like me reading this having a mini moment of 'aHa'. Why aren't we taught in schools? Why haven't our parents told us that? Maybe because they never thought about it too? Or maybe it has a negative association with 'thinking for yourself = selfishness' ? I won't be surprised if such self-empowerment thought is guarded instead of encouraged due to fear of 'empowering oneself'. Afterall, a school requires a certain conformity so huge group of students can sit together in a room and listen as a class. While for parents, if the child is to love himself first, they will feel unloved.
