African Proverb: A man shows his character by the things he laughs at
Meaning: Many things we do, tell of our character. A few of those things include how we treat people who are different from us, how we handle what does not belong to us and what we do when we think no one is watching us. But one of the prominent traits that speak a lot about our character is what we laught at. I dare say that laughter is not something we consider as one of those things which speaks volumes about who we are. But what we laugh at tells loads about us. Notice I'm not talking about how we laugh but about what we laugh at. If you laugh at the misfortune of others, that speaks of you as a mean person. Laughter is a good thing. It is medicine to our bodies but it can also be poison to our soul. Some things are no laughing matters. On the flip side, if you can laugh at yourself, that speaks of you as a lighthearted person. A life without time to laugh is a failure. A truly successful person lives a balance life. Be disciplined enough to be flexible; free enough to be responsible; firm enough to be gentle; great enough to serve; strong enough to be vulnerable; wise enough to learn; industrious enough to rest; Serious enough to laugh. Be lighthearted! !
