Second Year Architecture Studio — End of Semester 4 Highlights
This semester challenged students to explore architecture as a responsive and transformative tool within the context of South Sudan...addressing real societal, environmental, and developmental needs through research-based design.
Emphasis was placed on resilience, adaptability, and community-centered solutions, preparing students to think beyond form and engage with architecture as a driver of impact and nation building.
This vision was translated into key design projects, including:
• Emergency Architecture for war-displaced populations — flexible, modular structures designed for mobility and reuse
• Resilient Educational Facilities for flood-affected communities — adaptive buildings capable of withstanding water conditions
• School of the Future — innovative learning environments for the next generation
• Skills Development Facility (Vocal for Local) — spaces that promote local skills, identity, and empowerment
From concept development to physical models, these projects reflect a growing ability to merge creativity with purpose—shaping architects who are equipped to respond to the challenges and opportunities of South Sudan’s built environment.

Resilience & Agility: Building the Resilient Architect
Join our diverse panel of architects as they dissect how to build the inner stability and agility needed to thrive in studio culture and professional landscape of architecture. Just as a building requires structural integrity to withstand environmental loads, an architect requires a psychological core to thrive under the pressures of studio culture and a tough professional environment.

End of Semester Presentation – First Year Studio
This semester, our students explored the fundamentals of residential architecture through the design of a Simple House. The project emphasized spatial organization, human scale, circulation, structure, and environmental response.
These works reflect not only design solutions, but the foundation of architectural thinking.
We commend our First Year students for their commitment and progress.

A proud academic moment for the School of Architecture, as students presented their design competition proposals at the Embassy of France.
The competition challenged students to design a project titled Amphitheater and conference center to be located within the University of Juba. The project responds to the need for a dedicated space to host poetry readings, book discussions, lectures, and cultural events, while also incorporating classrooms for French language instruction.
Five students represented five teams, each composed of three members from 2nd, 3rd and 4th year classes presenting diverse architectural ideas that explored culture, learning, climate responsiveness, and community gathering. Each proposal demonstrated thoughtful responses to context, movement, shade, and social interaction.
The presentations reflected the students’ ability to translate cultural narratives into architectural form, highlighting the role of architecture as a medium for dialogue and exchange.
A meaningful experience that strengthened academic collaboration and celebrated creativity, teamwork, and design excellence
The Deputy French ambassador was impressed and applauded the students, the School and the university for the great job which will be a base to open doors for more collaborations, exchange programs and projects.
The Dean as well appreciated the students and the staffs for the job well done...
SALMURP starts the new year on a good note.
