😂 THE OSCE/OSPE MOMENT EVERY MEDICAL STUDENT KNOWS!

You know that feeling when you’re doing your procedure and suddenly everything goes PERFECTLY FAST? 😎🩺

You finish the procedure, step back confidently…
The examiner hasn’t even rung the bell yet. 🔔

You: “Finished, Sir” 😌
Examiner: 👀
You: 😐
Your brain: “WAIT… WHAT DID I FORGET?” 💀😂

Then you start replaying the entire procedure in your head:

“Did I introduce myself?”
“Did I wash my hands?”
“Did I explain the procedure?”
“Did I check the patient’s identity?”
“Did I dispose of the sharps properly?”
“Did I actually do everything… or did I just SPEEDRUN the whole station?” 😂😭

Now you’re just standing there looking calm, while your brain is doing a complete audit of the entire procedure! 🧠🚨😂

Every medical student has experienced that silence before the bell rings.
Sometimes finishing early feels less like “I’m prepared” and more like “Lord, please let me remember what I just did.” 😂🙏🏾

But that’s exactly why OSCE/OSPE practice matters: speed is good, but accuracy, safety, communication and completeness come first. 🩺❤️

These practical assessments give our candidates the opportunity to demonstrate not only what they’ve learned in the classroom, but also the confidence, precision, professionalism, and clinical judgment expected of future healthcare professionals.

Our Clinical Officers have officially entered the second phase of their Practical Assessments (OSCE/OSPE). 📚🩺

After weeks of intensive theoretical preparation and the first phase of practical assessment, our candidates are once again stepping forward to demonstrate not only what they know, but also how well they can apply their knowledge in practice.💯🩺

At St. Mary’s, Assessment is not simply about completing an examination.

It is about identifying areas that need improvement, strengthening clinical reasoning, developing practical competence, and building the confidence required of tomorrow’s healthcare professionals.💯👏🏾👏🏾

Today our candidates took part in an important classroom-based practical session on Manual Vacuum Aspiration (MVA). 🩺📚

👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏽‍⚕️ These candidates are getting closer to becoming qualified health professionals, and today’s session gave them an opportunity to connect what they have learned in theory with hands-on clinical skills.

The practical session focused on understanding the MVA procedure, Preparation, Safety precautions, Infection prevention, Appropriate technique, and Patient care under the guidance of their instructor.

👀 Some came with their notebooks……..
🤔 Some came with questions…….
😂 And, of course, there was probably someone thinking, “Sir, will this be in the exam?” 😅

Today marked a historic and long-awaited moment at St. Mary’s Health Science Training Institute Juba as we welcomed the Nursing and Midwifery Council of South Sudan 🇸🇸.

For a long time, the country awaited for the establishment of a dedicated body to regulate and strengthen the nursing and midwifery professions. That long-awaited reality is now here! 🙌🇸🇸

The Council’s presence marks an important step toward ensuring quality, safety, accountability and professionalism in nursing and midwifery practice across South Sudan.🇸🇸

During the awareness session, our students and staff were engaged on important areas including:

🩺 Registration of Nurses and Midwives.
📋 Licensing and professional requirements.
⚖️ Regulation of Nursing and Midwifery practice.
🎓 Professional standards and responsibilities.

Who said Health Education has to be boring? 😄 Our students are using Drama, Creativity, and Practical skills to educate the public on the dangers of home birth without skilled assistance and also encourage every mother to attend antenatal care (ANC) and plan for delivery with a skilled midwife, nurse, or doctor.

Skilled Health professionals can help detect complications early, ensure timely intervention, and reduce the risk of maternal and newborn deaths.
