As the school prepares to conduct First Term examinations and learners return home for the holidays, I kindly encourage you to take a few minutes to sit with your child(ren) and guide them on important life values.
Help them understand that being tall or short, chubby or slim, dark-skinned or light-skinned is never a reason to mock or look down on others. This conversation will help them better understand the realities of our current economic situation in South Sudan.
Teach them that there is nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes every day and that an old or used school bag carries the same dreams as a brand-new one.
Remind them not to exclude others because they are different or because they do not have the same opportunities. Explain that teasing hurts and that school is a place to learn—not a place to compete over possessions.
We all have equal value, and education truly begins at home.
At Home, Children Should Learn to Say:

Be honest
Be punctual
Avoid insulting others
Be polite

Eat what is provided without complaint
Avoid talking with their mouth full
Maintain personal hygiene
Never throw litter on the ground
Help parents with daily chores
Avoid taking what does not belong to them
Be content with what they have
Work honestly to earn a living
Dress modestly
At Home, Children Should Further Learn to:
Stay organized
Take care of their belongings
Respect other people’s property
Follow rules
Speak their mother tongue(s) and embrace their culture and spirituality
At School, Teachers Should Teach:
Mathematics ,English, and Etc
