نيروبي، كينيا — اختتم المؤتمر الوطني الخاص بوضع
استراتيجية وطنية للاستجابة للكوارث، بمشاركة وكالة إدارة الكوارث الصومالية (SoDMA)، وعدد من المنظمات الدولية مثل برنامج الأغذية العالمي (WFP)، ومنظمة الأغذية والزراعة (FAO)، والمجلس الدنماركي للاجئين (DRC)، والمركز الإقليمي للمناخ والموارد المائية (ICPAC) التابع لمنظمة الإيغاد (IGAD)، إلى جانب خبراء في مجال إدارة الكوارث.
وبعد أن وجَّه المؤتمر دعوةً خاصة إلى منظمة شرق إفريقيا للأعمال الخيرية، شاركت المنظمة في فعالياته ممثلةً بأمينها العام السيد عبد الكريم عبدالله علي، مؤكدة التزامها بدعم الجهود الوطنية والإقليمية في مجال الاستعداد لمواجهة الكوارث وتعزيز آليات الاستجابة الفعّالة.
Nairobi, Kenya — The National Conference on developing a national disaster response strategy concluded with the participation of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), along with several international organizations such as the World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and the Regional Climate and Water Resources Center (ICPAC) under IGAD, in addition to disaster management experts.
Following a special invitation from the conference, the East Africa Charity Organization participated in the event, represented by its Secretary-General, Mr. Abdul Karim Abdullah Ali, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to supporting national and regional efforts in disaster preparedness and enhancing effective response mechanisms.

Today, the National Conference dedicated to consultations on developing a strategy was concluded in the capital, Mogadishu.
We, at the East Africa Charity Organization, welcome such valuable efforts and initiatives, in which we participated alongside charitable organizations from both inside and outside the country, out of our belief in the importance of coordination and integration in addressing humanitarian challenges and in building more effective national capacities for disaster management.

Today in Mogadishu, the National Conference on developing a national strategy to guide the process of preparedness and response to disasters in the country was concluded.

The two-day conference was attended by senior officials from agencies including WFP, FAO, DRC, and ICPAC — a specialized institution under IGAD. Also present were the IGAD ambassador to Somalia and international organizations working in humanitarian assistance and disaster management. Experts specialized in these fields also participated in the meeting.

The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahamuud Macalin Abdulle, stated that the purpose of the conference was to deliberate on the establishment of a national strategy for disaster prevention and response in Somalia.

The conference concluded with practical resolutions and decisions that will significantly improve the way Somalia responds to disasters. It was also agreed to further strengthen the cooperation between SoDMA and its partners.
