Coalition for Education for All Somalia - Efasom

Mogadishu, May 4, 2025 — The Education For All Somalia EFASOM concluded the Global Action Week for Education (GAWE 2025) with a high-level advocacy event held in Mogadishu, bringing together more than 60 civil society representatives, education stakeholders, and community leaders.

The event served as a vibrant platform for dialogue and advocacy centered on this year’s GAWE theme: “Protect the Right to Education in Contexts of Crisis.” Participants reflected on the progress made and the persistent challenges confronting Somalia’s education sector—particularly the pressing need to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for marginalized and out-of-school children.

Today is the International Labor Day. Teachers are the backbone of education, even in emergencies. Let’s call for fair pay for teachers working in crisis contexts. More power to teachers on Labor Day! Lets protect the right to education.

Thanks to GPE/Oxfam De under EOL project, EFASOM & Iftin Foundation awarded certificates of participation to 30 members of the civil society after completing a two-day training on Policy Influencing and Transparency in Education, held from 20–21 April 2025 in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Today: EFASOM Celebrates 19th Anniversary and Concludes General Assembly — EFASOM today successfully concluded its General Assembly, commemorating 19 years since its establishment in 2006. As part of the event, a new Board of Directors was elected to succeed the outgoing members, who were honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their outstanding contributions and dedicated service to the organization.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Safwa Foundation participated in a 2-day forum on ensuring the quality of education that was conducted by the Education for All Somalia (EFASOM).
The forum was held in Mogdishu, the capital city of Somalia, from July 21–22, 2024.
Our Deputy Chairperson was presented with the opportunities and challenges of our educational services.
