Today, Mr. Abdimajid Hussien Abdulle, our Director of Youth Development, participated in the first day of a two-day workshop under the Supporting Community Responsive Peacekeeping in South Sudan & Somalia (2024–2026).

The workshop, supported by the Government of Canada and organized by Save the Children in Somalia, brings together stakeholders to discuss peacebuilding, community resilience, child protection, and the role of young people in promoting sustainable peace and development.

As young people, we have a unique responsibility and opportunity to become champions of environmental protection. The actions we take today will determine the quality of life for generations to come.

The Executive Board of Sonea officially appointed Mr. Ismail Hassan Osman as the Executive Director of SONEA Organization.

Mr. Ismail Hassan Osman brings strong academic knowledge, leadership skills, professional experience, and a proven commitment to community and youth development. The Board’s decision reflects its full confidence in his ability to effectively lead the organization and advance its mission.

As the newly appointed Executive Director, he will oversee the organization’s strategic plans and operations, with a focus on sustainable development, strengthening community services, and achieving the long-term vision and objectives of the organization.

A youth delegation led by the Director of the Youth Department participated in the official opening ceremony of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Headquarters and the national celebration of Somali Youth Day.

The remarkable event was honored by the presence of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, alongside government officials, youth leaders, and distinguished guests committed to advancing youth development and national progress.

The celebration highlighted the vital role of Somali youth in peacebuilding, leadership, innovation, and the future development of the nation. It also reflected the government’s continued commitment to empowering young people and strengthening institutions dedicated to youth advancement.

On the occasion of Somali Youth Day, Sonea Organization proudly hosted a meaningful seminar titled “Social Workers as Agents of Peace and Conflict Transformation.”

The seminar brought together passionate young leaders, social workers, and changemakers committed to promoting peace, and sustainable community development. Through dialogue, learning, and collaboration, participants explored the vital role of social work in conflict resolution and nation-building.

At the conclusion, participants were awarded Certificates of Completion in recognition of their dedication and active engagement.
