Congratulations to Barwaqo-Sagal Mohamed Ali for her acceptance to the United Word Colleges(UWC) East Africa- one of the most prestigious international schools in the world.

Abdirahman Elmi graduated from Burao Academy in 2023. Following graduation, he pursued an academic internship in Hargeisa to grow his professional experience. He then returned to Burao Academy, where he started teaching Cisco networking courses to middle and high school students. Giving back to the community that shaped him was, for Elmi, a natural first step. He is now a student at Georgetown University in Qatar, one of the most selective universities in the world and ranked number one globally in foreign service education. There, he is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, with a major in Science, Technology and International Affairs (STIA), the university's most rigorous, demanding and distinctive academic program. He is also pursuing a minor in Modern Arabic and a certificate in Oil and Energy Studies through Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. Abdirahman serves as a leader of the Black Student Association at Georgetown, a role that reflects both his commitment to community and his ability to bring people together. His academic work has already taken him beyond the campus. He traveled to Nepal as part of Georgetown's Community Engagement Program, and next semester he will travel to Georgia to present his research on International Affairs at an academic forum. Elmi is proving, step by step that Burao Acdemy stuents are able to compete and represent the nation in global stages with students from every corner of the world.
