🛫 Non-RVSM vs. RVSM Airspace

RVSM (Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum) allows for reduced vertical separation between aircraft, increasing airspace efficiency.

Non-RVSM Airspace:
• Vertical Separation: 2000 ft between flight levels.
• Flight Levels: FL290, FL310, FL330, FL350, FL370, FL390, FL410.
• Spacing: Only alternate flight levels are used due to larger separation requirements.


RVSM Airspace:
• Vertical Separation: 1000 ft between flight levels.
• Flight Levels: FL290, FL300, FL310, FL320, FL330, FL340, FL350, FL360, FL370, FL380, FL390, FL400, FL410.

✈️ Why RVSM Matters:
RVSM enhances air traffic capacity, reduces delays, and enables more fuel-efficient operations for airlines.
• Efficiency: More flight levels allow for increased air traffic and fuel-efficient cruising altitudes.

🧭 Understanding Tracks, Headings & Courses

This diagram is your navigation cheat sheet!
It shows the transformation between:

True (based on the geographic North Pole)
Magnetic (based on the Earth’s magnetic field)
Compass (influenced by aircraft systems)


✔️ Use these conversion layers:
🌍 TC → MC → CC (Course)
✈️ TH → MH → CH (Heading)
🛩️ TT → MT → CT (Track)

And don’t forget the angles:

VAR = Magnetic Variation
DEV = Compass Deviation
WCA = Wind Correction Angle
DA = Drift Angle
