Empowering the Future: A Message to Our Donor Partners,
Stakeholders, and Community Leaders

Dear Supporters,

We are excited to share the latest updates and achievements from the Gbonkolenken
Youth Computer Training Institute (GYCTECH). Your generous contributions have
been instrumental in transforming the lives of many young individuals in our
community.

Background:

Gbonkolenken youth Computer Training Institute was founded in 2022 by Alie
Osman Sesay, our mission at GYCTECH is to empower the youth of Gbonkolenken
and surrounding areas by providing essential computer training skills. In our
chiefdom, particularly in Yele and neighboring region, access to computers is limited,
and many young people have never used a computer. Training is primarily available
in larger towns like Bo, Freetown, Makeni, and Magburaka, but those options are
often expensive. Without basic computer skills, youths struggle to enter the job
market.

Recognizing this gap, Francis Sesay and I initiated a project to establish a computer
training school. Our aim is to contribute to the sustainable development of digital
skills in Gbonkolenken, with a vision of becoming a regional hub for advanced
technology training, enabling young people to enhance their digital literacy at an
affordable cost.
Our Mission

At GYCTECH, we strive to close the technology gap by providing affordable and
practical training for young people. Our dream is to see them skilled in technology
and actively contributing to their communities, benefiting from job opportunities in
the digital world.

We thank God for His abundant blessings. Through hard work, perseverance, and dedication, we are proud to celebrate the graduation of our first group of students from GYCTECH. This milestone reflects our shared commitment to empowering youth through education and digital skills.

Our mission is to bridge the digital divide in underserved communities by providing accessible and affordable computer training. Our vision is to nurture a generation of digitally skilled individuals equipped with the knowledge and expertise to contribute meaningfully to society and drive innovation in their communities.

Despite this success, we continue to face significant challenges. Limited resources, such as insufficient laptops and lack of sustainable electricity, remain hurdles in delivering quality education. Many of our students struggle to afford essential programs, and the absence of a standard training facility adds to our operational difficulties.

We sincerely appreciate the efforts of our dedicated team, donors, partners, tutors, parents, and community members who have supported us against all odds. Together, we aim to overcome these challenges and expand our impact.
