Our Executive Director honored to moderate the Launching Ceremony of the SALMA VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING INSTITUTE AT JUI.
Fortunately, my dear sister of TEAM KASHO , Councillor Koroma Salma joined her Birthday celebration and the launching of her institution. This is a manifestation of demonstrating passion for community development as a Councillor.
What amazed me is the fact that Jui Hanga community are extremely deprived for skills education, Salma Vocational Skills Training Institutes a solution to empower, and promote young women development.
This is what other politicians and political leaders should be emulating.

On Monday 28th April, 2025 I was hosted at Rise Radiosl 96.3 FM to discuss Sierra Leone 64th Independent Anniversary on the popular program Youth Long Bench.
The discussion centered around a timely and meaningful topic: 64th INDEPENDENT, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO THE LIFE OF YOUNG PEOPLE OF SIERRA LEONE? The discussion unearthed challenges faced by young people from 1961 to now and possible opportunities to uplift young people development in Sierra Leone.
As an experienced Youth Advocate providing consultancy on youths issues, Peace and Sustainable Development. My knowledge shared built on endemic youth challenges and sounding solutions for young people transforming in Sierra Leone.
As it stands, it good to celebrate our National Pride, Sovereignty and Patriotism as youths. Unfortunately, as youths it’s time we reflect our minds on the long existence challenges we have faced like Unemployment, Marginalization, Lack of quality and Productivity education, Generational Drugs Addiction and Political Instability. We are yet to be, late we can recalibrate our energy and build better actions to superintend the leadership and governance dispensation of our country.
Come 2028 we want to see more young people below age 30 become members of parliament, Mayors, and Councillors. If they can’t appoint us then let contest the elections, factually we the youths have the powers, energy and potential to Transform this nation.

On the 30th June, I was pleased to join the Maria's cakes Academy on their 8th Graduation Ceremony at Waterloo Western Area Rural. I was honored as the keynote speaker for this magnificent youth empowering event, as usual my statement served as a blowing inspiration for youth enrollment into technical skills program and emphasis on the ramifications of being a dependent.
The Maria’s Cakes Academy is an outstanding specialized Cake making institute owned by a young passionate philanthropist Madam Mariama Jiwor Labador Bah, who is a student of IPAM and very proactive and passionate to empower her colleagues (young Women). Evidently, she has empowered over 1000 Young Women across Sierra Leone in Cake Making and decorations.
It's obvious a young woman that is not empowered or has skills for survival "go always dea par Hag bag, Visit club to club for survival".
Make your life meaningful to acquire a skill for survival.

*LET EMBRACE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT FOR EFFECTIVE FINANCIAL GROWTH.*
*By: Amb. Eric Scientis Koroma. *
Learning vocational and technical skills plays a crucial role in today's society. These skills provide individuals with practical knowledge and expertise in specific fields, enabling them to secure employment, contribute to the economy, and enhance their overall quality of life. Among the various vocational and technical skills, catering and tailoring are particularly significant.
Beyond catering and tailoring, there are numerous other vocational and technical skills that hold great importance. These include plumbing, carpentry, automotive repair, electrical work, and computer programming, among others. These skills are vital for maintaining and improving infrastructure, ensuring the smooth functioning of societies. Skilled plumbers, carpenters, and electricians are needed to construct and maintain buildings, while automotive repair technicians keep vehicles running efficiently.
Learning vocational and technical skills not only provides individuals with employment opportunities but also empowers them to contribute to their communities and economies. These skills are often in high demand, making them more recession proof compared to certain academic degrees. Moreover, vocational and technical skills can lead to higher wages and job satisfaction, as individuals are able to apply their knowledge practically and see tangible outcomes.
In conclusion, vocational and technical skills, including catering, tailoring, and others, are of utmost importance in today's society. They offer individuals the opportunity to secure better livelihood. Take the opportunity now and grab one, if your academic degree doesn’t work, try technical skills.
