Do you know that Sec. 45 of 🇸🇱’s ACC Act, 2008 as amended requires public officers to disclose in writing the nature of their interest in any institution or undertaking that their office proposes to deal with and prevent public officers from voting or taking part in any proceedings or process relating to decisions in which they have personal interests?

Apart from its coercive nature, these provisions seem to be deeply rooted in moral values and they are a big test of officers' integrity.

Do you know that Sec. 23 of 🇸🇱’s Employment Act 2023 requires employers to first consider Sierra Leoneans for employment and training before they consider foreign experts for the same? It is only when Sierra Leoneans are not trained for a position that employers can hire a foreign expert, however with a plan to train Sierra Leoneans for that position.

Do you know that Sec. 56 of 🇸🇱’s Employment Act 2023 requires employers to provide each worker with an itemised pay statement that includes the worker’s gross wages due at the end of that period, all deductions made and the worker’s net wage?

The Law Society organized a successful tour of the Law School, Parliament, Law Court, Correction Center and the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters in Freetown. We are grateful for the warm reception we received from senior officials of these institutions. The full-day travelling experience that started and ended in Makeni really paid off. We look forward to similar on site learning experience for our budding lawyers.

As it is our culture, a send off football match was played between the outgoing Law students and the Law Society Football team. The game which was won by the LS Football Team was an awesome event of renewed friendship even as the outgoing students prepare for their graduation. They will be missed on campus. Yet, they are wished the best in their journey ahead.

On Saturday, 28th October 2023, the Law Department organized a special orientation for their new intake. The program which was chaired by the HOD and supervisor of the UNIMAK Law Society was awesome.

A lot of activities lined up this week at the UNIMAK Law Society. One thing that we can boast of is that we have a great team of willing students who can volunteer their talents and time to make the society great!

The support for Team UNIMAK Law Society was overwhelming.

Do you know that the UNIMAK Law Society Football team won the match against Imatt College Law Society Football by 3 goals to 1? It was an exceptional performance by our guys.
