LETTER OF CONDOLENCE FOR THE PASSING OF THE VERY REVEREND GEORGE BIGUZZI, SX,

On behalf of the Unimak Alumni Association (UAA), we extend our condolences on the passing of The Very Reverend George Biguzzi, SX, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Makeni, and Chancellor of the University of Makeni.

Bishop Biguzzi was a spiritual leader within the Catholic Church, a beloved figure in our community, and an instrumental force in Sierra Leone's recovery and reconciliation following the civil war.

His dedication to the service of others, his unwavering faith, and his compassionate leadership have left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

As Chancellor of the University of Makeni, Bishop Biguzzi played a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape of our nation, Sierra Leone. His vision and commitment to education and human development have inspired countless students and alumni and provided a guiding light for many members of the UAA. His legacy of pursuing excellence and serving humanity with compassion and integrity will continue to motivate us.

We sincerely appreciate the sacrifice and dedication Bishop Biguzzi exhibited throughout his life. His contributions to the Catholic Mission, to Sierra Leone, and to humanity at large are immeasurable. We are grateful for the lasting impact of his extraordinary service, which will continue to guide and inspire us.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, the Catholic Mission, and all who mourn his loss. May we all find comfort in the cherished memories of his remarkable life and the lasting impact of his extraordinary service.

UNIVERSITY OF MAKENI RESPONSE TO A SOCIAL MEDIA POST TITLED “No Sierra Leonean University in the Global 2000 list!

We were disturbed to read a recent social media post that purportedly came from Roland and discussed the caliber of instruction and behavior of our lecturers at UNIMAK. We want to respond right away since we take these accusations very seriously.

We take pleasure in offering a secure and respectful learning environment to all of our students, teachers, and staff since we are a Catholic university. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any kind of misconduct or harassment, and we thoroughly look into all claims.

We would want to make it clear that the University of Makeni is a respected institution dedicated to giving students from all backgrounds a top-notch education. We are proud of the accomplishments of our graduates as well as our academic offerings.

The writer and the general public are reassured by UNIMAK that these accusations are being taken seriously and that an investigation has been opened into them.

We will cooperate fully with any inquiry and have also reported the post to the Cyber Unit at the Mena Police Station.

We also want to caution the writer that making false and defamatory claims might result in severe legal repercussions. In order for us to respond to the author's assertions effectively, we implore him to provide any supporting documentation.

The administration of UNIMAK thanks the author for bringing this issue to their attention and looks forward to the author's complete cooperation in proving his assertions.

In conclusion, UNIMAK reassures the public that we have high academic standards at our university that are applied equally to all students, and that our staff members are dedicated to upholding these standards.

Dear Fellow Alumni,

It is a great pleasure to welcome all new graduates to the University of Makeni Alumni Association (UAA), home to continue to build a civilization of love.

Having gone through the phases you have just completed and received awards for, UAA understands what determination and challenges all those years are. So today, is celebrating them with our unique university, which is fondly called UNIMAK.

Seeing graduates today gives a unique relief that you are fully equipped to join the global workforce to contribute to a more sustainable world that shares a civilization of love, hope, and growth.

Also, as graduates, you are now qualified to connect with our 1,000-plus alumni who have established their careers in diverse professional streams in Sierra Leone and beyond. Furthermore, learn about the events organized by our growing number of chapters. We are fortunate to have an executive run by spirited alumni volunteers who do their utmost to maintain ties with each other and their alma mater.

Also, UAA will facilitate social interaction and networking; we look forward to organizing annual fundraising events and various programs that benefit the university, current students, and alumni.

Also, as we all move on, let us not lose contact with our darling UNIMAK that shaped us or the colleagues who saw us through the years. So, let us make the UNIMAK Alumni Association (UAA) our port of call, where we can meet virtually, if not in person.

Also, remain supportive of one another by creating jobs, building networks, sharing hopes, and maintaining a lifetime and dedicated membership of the UAA family.
