Strengthening School Wellbeing in Kenema
Networking Empowerment for Young Generation Sierra Leone (NEYG-S/L) continues to take meaningful steps toward improving the wellbeing of young people in schools.
As part of the School Wellbeing Project, NEYG-S/L has successfully signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with five schools in Kenema. This agreement marks the beginning of a strong partnership aimed at promoting a safe, supportive, and healthy learning environment for students.
Through this collaboration, NEYG-S/L will work closely with school administrations to promote student wellbeing, raise awareness on key social issues, and support young people in building confidence and life skills.
We appreciate the commitment shown by the participating schools and their willingness to partner with us in shaping a better future for students.
Together, we can build stronger schools and empower the next generation.

26 February 2026. As the 250th anniversary celebration of the United States continues, I was honored to be part of an inspiring educational activity organized by the U.S. Embassy Sierra Leone in collaboration with the American Corner Kenema here in Kenema.
We successfully organized a storytelling competition among senior secondary school pupils focused on the theme: “Storytelling about the American Flag and the Bald Eagle.” 🦅
This competition created a platform for young minds to learn, express themselves, and deepen their understanding of important American symbols and the values they represent, including freedom, unity, courage, and resilience.
It was inspiring to witness the confidence, creativity, and knowledge demonstrated by the pupils. Activities like this strengthen cultural exchange, promote learning, and empower the next generation to think globally while growing locally.
Special thanks to the U.S. Embassy and American Corner Kenema for their continued commitment to education and youth empowerment.

NETWORKING EMPOWERMENT FOR YOUNG GENERATION SIERRA LEONE (NEYG-SL)
Back-to-School Awareness Week
Kenema Municipality
As schools prepare to reopen, NEYG-SL is launching a week of back-to-school messages across schools in Kenema Municipality.
Theme: Going to School Early When School Reopens
Education matters. Going to school early sets the tone for discipline, learning, and success. When pupils and students return on time, they miss fewer lessons, build good habits, and stay focused from the start.
We also use this week to speak out clearly against Gender-Based Sexual Violence (GBSV). Schools must be safe spaces for every child. Education can only thrive where children are protected, respected, and supported.
To students: be ready. Go early. Take your education seriously.
To parents and guardians: support your children to return to school on time.
To teachers and school leaders: continue to protect, guide, and inspire.
Education is important. Protection is essential. The future starts now.
