REQUEST FOR SUPPORT FOR SIERRA LEONE TO BE REPRESENTED AT THE
GLOBAL AND AFRICAN SPELLING BEE IN DUBAI OCTOBER, 2025 AND MARCH 2026 CONSECUTIVELY.
It is no secret that Sierra Leonean children had taken the stage in the African Spelling Bee (ASB), made a mark in Uganda ASB 2019 and brought home Laurels and certificates which qualified Sierra Leone to be a member of the African Spelling Bee Consortium. Sierra Leone is the Global Award winner of the Intercontinental Spelling Bee in Dubai and emerged a winner in the 9th grade category and again the Best African Speller at the just conclude Global Spelling Bee 2024 in Dubai The African Spelling Bee is an annual rotational event hosted by a registered member country every year. ICBAI Sierra Leone Spelling Bee will love to host this great event in 2027 am sure we would have got sponsors. As member of the African Spelling Bee and the Intercontinental Spelling Bee, Sierra Leone is expected to be represented every year.
This great event has given our children the opportunity to compete and excel in Global stage amidst other African, Asian, and EU Countries as well as Improving their networking, literacy, confidence, reading skills and many more. In light of the above development, we are requesting your support to send at least 20 participants and 5 chaperons to represent Serra Leone at the Intercontinental Spelling Bee in Dubai and African Spelling Bee Zimbabwe in October , 2025 and March, 2026 consecutively. The participation of the Children in such international fora will not only build the intellectual capacity of the children but also give a very impressive face of our country as it has done internationally and to compliment the efforts of Government to achieve Quality and Sustainable Education, Girl Child Empowerment, Gender Equality, living no one behind etc. This is one of the main reasons for their participation. However, this would not happen if the adequate support is not available. We therefore request your support to any of the lines on the attached budget to enable 20 Sierra Leonean Children engage such laudable Venture. ICBAI Honored at the Global Spelling Bee for Transformative Work in Promoting Education in Sierra Leoneç
Madam Isata, the Executive Director of the Initiative in Capacity Building Association International (ICBAI) Sierra Leone, was recently recognized by the Global Spelling Bee for her remarkable contributions to promoting Spelling Bee competitions across Sierra Leone. This prestigious acknowledgment took place at the Global Spelling Bee event in Dubai, where the International Spelling Bee and Quiz Contest Organization praised her exemplary leadership and commitment to empowering young learners.
Over the years, Madam Isata has shown unwavering dedication and creativity, mobilizing resources from individuals, parents, and organizations to support Spelling Bee competitions nationwide. Her efforts have created valuable opportunities for young Sierra Leoneans to develop their language skills, confidence, and intellectual abilities. Her work has not only expanded participation in Spelling Bees but has also raised Sierra Leone's profile on international educational platforms.
Isa Luch Yeama Lawson is one of the standout talents mentored by ICBAI. She emerged as the African Best Speller in both the 2022 and 2024 Spelling Bee competitions and was named Global Ambassador for Sierra Leone in 2022. Yeama exemplifies the success of ICBAI’s mentoring efforts, inspiring more young Sierra Leoneans to compete on global stages.
In her role as Executive Director, Madam Isata has been a strong advocate for youth development, with a particular focus on empowering children and young women. Her steadfast commitment has helped ICBAI grow into a respected organization that fosters the next generation of Sierra Leonean leaders, thinkers, and communicators.

*ICBAI NEEDS 6 PUPILS TO TAKE PART IN THE AFRICA SPELLING BEE COMPETITION IN NIGERIA*
As part of their prime functions in giving a facelift in the country's education sector, the Initiative in Capacity Building Association International (ICBAI), the founding organization of National Spelling Bee in Sierra Leone is sets to take six participants, including 3 from primary and 3 from secondary schools to participate in the upcoming African Spelling Bee competition, scheduled to take place in Nigeria on the 9th April 2025.
