🇬🇧 The East London Mosque, first established in 1910, is one of the UK’s most prominent masājid, serving thousands in the heart of Whitechapel. Its current purpose-built mosque was completed in 1985, later expanding with the London Muslim Centre and Maryam Centre to meet the needs of a growing community.
It offers five daily prayers, Jumuʿah, Qurʾān and Islamic studies classes, nikāh and funeral services, counselling, youth programs, and community outreach. Beyond worship, it plays a vital role as a hub for education, social support, and community cohesion, helping to preserve Islamic identity while serving the wider society in London.

Prayer is the pillar of religion and one of the five pillars of Islam, and it is obligatory for every Muslim man and woman. As for how to perform healthy prayer, it should be noted that prayer in itself is a healthy exercise program for bones, joints, and muscles, but "healthy prayer" requires its own conditions of humility and tranquility, with a focus on stability and proper performance of the pillars such as prostration and bowing.
Steps of correct prayer:
Intention: It is in the heart and does not require verbalization.
Takbirat al-Ihram: Raise your hands to the level of your shoulders and say "Allahu Akbar".
Standing: Recite Al-Fatihah and then whatever is easy from the Holy Quran.
Bowing: Be humble and say "Subhana Rabbi al-Atheem".
Rising from bowing: Stand straight and say for those praying.
Prostration: Prostrate twice in each rak'ah with reliance on the seven points of prostration (the forehead, the palms of the hands, the knees, the tips of the feet) and say "Subhana Rabbi al-A'la".
Sitting between the two prostrations: Sit in a stable sitting before moving to the second prostration.
Tashahhud: Recite the Tashahhud in the last rak'ahs.
