AS SCHEDULED BY THE UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION
TODAY, THEY HELD AN INCLUSIVE ONE ON ONE ASSEMBLY DISCUSSION WITH THE STUDENTS.
On that note couple of things were discuss and deliberated up on .
The discussion was fully open by the current registre of the university with a minute silent individual prayers.
And it was followed by the VP And C of the university, he started the discussion with the key essence of the gathering which is the tuition fees, which he urged all students to complete their payment,stating the gracing period for both newly admitted students and continue student, on that note he said " All newly admitted students should complete their payment before taking their first semester exam and continue student should 60 percent before taking their first semester exam as well.
He further talks on the current project on campus, which the rehabilitation of hostels for students and quarters for Lecturers.
He continued to give update on the progress of the project, such as the new amphitheater , new hostels, faculty building, and also new Lecture rooms.
Moreover,he concluded by entertaining question from the students and all questions were answered successfully.
Furthermore,a silent prayers was observed for the late man, lecturer of the university Mr Fornah ,may his soul rest in perfect peace.
In addition the matriculation date was announced for the newly admitted students, which is March 1st .
Finally the assembly was called to an with a minute silent individual prayers as well.

Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) on Saturday14th 2024, held its congregation ceremony for the 2022-2024 conferment of degrees and awards of diplomas and certificates to 2,848 graduands at its Peace and Love Amphitheatre, Goderich Campus in Freetown.
The program officially began with an opening prayer, invoking blessings on the graduates and the ceremony. The Chancellor then declared the congregation open, signaling the start of the proceedings.
Her Excellency, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, delivered the keynote address, a moment that resonated deeply with the audience. She shared words of wisdom, urging graduates to embrace innovation and service to society.
The First Lady disclosed that the law preventing girls from being married under the age of 18 has been enacted and that Sexual and Gender-Based violence against women and girls are now punishable by law.
She continued that 30% of women are now in governance and the decision-making process citing the GEWE Act, urged the grandaunts to manage their expectations, and expressed thanks and appreciation to the President for transforming the institution into a Technical University.
The First Lady also informed the grandaunts that Sierra Leone is waiting for them to implement the Big 5 Game Changers that would transform the country to another level.
The Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Philip John Kanu, presented a comprehensive report highlighting the university's achievements, ongoing projects, and future aspirations. He commended the graduates for their hard work and resilience throughout their academic journey.
The VC&P asserted that the day was great for the graduates as well as an honour and privilege, and extended profound thanks and appreciation to His Excellency, the president for transforming the institution into a Technical University
He furthered that the government had solicited funds for the renovation of the three campuses of the University for the first time in its 60 years history with the BADEA Project of $20 million to construct a new Administrative and University Buildings, Auditorium that will sit for over 5,000 and Amphitheatre overlooking the sea and commended the President for appointing two former lecturers in the institution as Cabinet Ministers adding that the President has done a lot for MMTU.
According to the VC&P, President Julius Maada Bio has provided a safe environment for women and girls and now was the time to give women and girls the opportunity to thrive with the enactment of the Gender Bill that was unanimously approved by Parliament.
Highlighting activities for the year, he catalogued formulation of the strategic plan, facelift of the institution and transformation from Polytechnic to University, financial sustainability, quality assurance, policies and procedures and building partnerships, ERASMUS Funding, the entrepreneur project, a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory-one of the best in the country, conducting research and publishing journals.
He furthered that the university undertook Corporate Social Responsibility by erecting street lights in its communities , road construction at Congo Cross leading to the campus, and launching the Endowment Fund during its 60th anniversary.
On challenges, he highlighted encroachment of the MMTU lands
The Chancellor, Dr Victor E A Kabia, delivered an uplifting message and encouraged the graduates to use their skills and knowledge to contribute to national development.
The Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr Ramatulai Wurie, emphasizes the government’s commitment to improving education and creating opportunities for young professionals.
Earlier in his welcome address,the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Director of Academic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Ali Jalloh delivered a heartfelt welcome statement, expressing pride in the achievements of the graduates and the continued growth of the university. The DVC observed that the day was special for the institution, illustrious alumni, and visiting professors.
He revealed that MMTU has a special relationship with the Keynote Speaker and First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone and congratulated all the grandaunts, parents and sponsors for their hard work and sacrifices adding that God will reward them.
The DVC noted that graduation is the beginning as education is a lifelong journey and called on them to embody the essence of MMTU.
Highlights of the well-attended ceremony were the award of degrees, certificates, and diplomas to grandaunts, the pledge to join the Alumni Association led by Mr. Ishamel Kebbay and award of prizes to the best male (Arthur Dominic Margai) and female (Finda Rosaline Tarawalie) grandaunts by Mr. Adonis Aboud of Transnational Sierra Leone Limited and the Overall Best Performing Students: Arthur Dominic Margai and Finda Rosaline Tarawalie by Africell Telecommunications Company.
The University Orator delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the ceremony. The audience then joined in singing the university anthem, a unifying moment of pride and tradition.
The Chancellor formally declared the congregation closed, followed by the national anthem, bringing the event to an official close.
A Day to Remember
The MMTU Congregation ceremony ceremony was a fitting tribute to the hard work and accomplishments of the graduating class. It also underscored the university’s commitment to excellence and its role in shaping the future of Sierra Leone.
