In commemoration of the May Month celebrations, the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society Karene Branch on the 18th May 2026, engaged higher learning institutions across the district in preparation for a major blood donation mobilization drive. โค๏ธ๐Ÿฉธ

This initiative supports the Government of Sierra Leoneโ€™s โ€œThree Zerosโ€ Agenda, particularly the target of achieving 300 days of zero maternal deaths. The planned blood donation campaign aims to strengthen the blood supply at Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital and contribute directly to saving the lives of mothers and emergency patients.

The engagement focused on mobilizing voluntary non-remunerated blood donors from higher institutions and raising awareness on the importance of safe blood donation in supporting maternal and emergency healthcare services.

The official blood donation exercise is scheduled to take place on 14th June 2026 in observance of World Blood Donor Day.

Together, we can save lives through voluntary blood donation.
