The Moeba students' union held a crucial meeting yesterday the 23 November, 2025 to address the rising concern of Kush and other dangerous drug substances affecting young people in the Moeba community. This gathering brought together executive members and active stakeholders who passionately discussed long-term strategies for tackling the drug crisis.

Key points raised included the need to increase community awareness, especially among youth and parents, on the effects of drug abuse. Members proposed the establishment of a confidential reporting system where residents can safely provide information about drug dealers and users without fear. The union also discussed partnering with local law enforcement, religious leaders, schools, and health workers to form a united front.

Importantly, MSU agreed to begin door to door outreach, schools based education campaigns, and radio discussions to reach a wider audience. The union reaffirmed its commitment to leading this fight with courage, unity, and responsibility.

The Union is facing a lot of issues when it comes to members contribution. We are calling on members to come on board in contributing to the development of our dealing MSU.

MSU remains strong and determined to protect the future of our young people and bring back peace, hope, and dignity to the Moeba community.

MOEBA STUDENTS’ UNION
Official Statement

We are pleased to announce that the MSU School Sensitization Tour has officially been completed, and it was a resounding success!

Over the past few days, our team engaged with pupils from various primary and secondary schools across the Moeba community, educating them on critical issues such as drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, peer pressure, and the value of education etc. The reception from both students and school authorities was overwhelmingly positive.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all members who participated, the school administrations who warmly welcomed us, and the students who engaged meaningfully.

This is just the beginning MSU remains committed to empowering and inspiring the youth of our community.

Regards ✊

UPDATE ON TRANSPORTATION NEGOTIATION MEETING WITH MSU EXECUTIVE AND KEY STAKEHOLDERS OF THE COMMUNITY

Date of Meeting: Saturday, 27th September 2025

Greetings 🫂

We are pleased to inform you that a vital negotiation meeting was held between the Executive of Moeba Students’ Union (MSU) and key stakeholders of our community. Present at the meeting were the Interim Chairman of Moeba Community, Chairman and Chairlady of the Bike Riders Union, Chief of Mamba Ridge, Chairman of Baghdad, and other respected community figures.

The focus of the meeting was on the rising transportation challenges faced by school-going pupils in Moeba. The MSU presented a proposal to reduce the cost of transport to a minimum fare of NLe 5 for all pupils in uniform, aiming to combat issues such as lateness, absenteeism, and potential school dropouts due to high transportation costs.

The initiative was welcomed with commendation by the Interim Chairman and further supported by the Bike Riders Union Chairman, who promised to consult his executive and general membership before making a final decision. The Chairlady of the Riders Union also emphasized the need for unity to make the initiative a success.

Additionally, a suggestion was made by the Organizing Secretary of Moeba Community to frame this as an official project and engage all schools to support and spread the message.

Plan B: In the event that negotiations do not yield immediate results, the President of MSU has proposed a long term project for the Union to own and operate commercial bikes under the Union’s name to serve students at affordable rates.

This is a step towards solving a pressing issue and we appreciate all community members for their continued support and commitment to progress.

Together, we grow. Together, we lead.
