Madam First Lady Fatima Maada Bio,
​I know you to be a devout and practicing Muslim, and in that spirit, I wish to share some reflections with you.
​We live in a country where people may oppose you for no objective reason. Often, people harbor hate based on hearsay rather than personal experience. They may resent you because you take the bold steps they are afraid to take, or simply because of your success and vision. Whether it is political differences, fear of competition, or your refusal to conform to others' expectations, this "admiration in the form of hatred" is a heavy burden to carry.
​Please remember, Ma'am, that most of the major prophets in our Holy Books were betrayed or persecuted by their own people. Yet today, they are the most revered figures in history.
​One thing I have observed about Sierra Leone is that those who face the most criticism are often the ones with the most to offer. Continue to be yourself and stand firmly by your convictions. Trust that the Almighty has your back, and know that well-meaning Sierra Leoneans stand with you.

The Hakaona, also known as the "Black Himba," are a small, semi-nomadic ethnic group in Angola's Cunene province, closely related to the Himba tribe. They distinguish themselves by using a mixture of cow dung, charcoal, and fat for their skin and hair, rather than red ochre like the Himba. Traditionally seen as cattle herders, they are also respected artisans and healers. Despite the Angolan Civil War, they have preserved their customs due to their remote location. Notable cultural markers include the flat-topped headdress worn by married women and complex braiding styles that signify age, marital status, and social standing.
