Innovative STEPS

Dear friends, colleagues, partners and all who participated... We are proud and sad as well to announce, that our project Innovative Steps, focused on sustainability, has officially come to the end. It has been 3 very productive years, full of good topics, innovative thoughts, meaningful work, funny discussions and first of all - great people working together with the same goal. Let us thank you all for everything... Much appreciated.

For all of you and general public, you are more than welcome to use our project materials in your schools. We really believe, that topics Enviro and Healthy nutrition are the ones, that are still missing these days and students will benefit from them for sure.

Our Erasmus + project Innovative Steps is slowly coming to the end. We met in Bratislava, on 5th and 6th June on seventh international meeting. Our meeting was the part of the multiplication event Teacher is not Google 2025, where we promoted and launched our project. Project was introduced to public in L+S theatre. We spent excellent time together, not just perfect work, but perfect people too and lot of fun : ) Thanx to everybody for time spent together. It was worthy : )

Let us provide you with the fourth newsletter dedicated to the international Innovative STEPS project (Innovative SusTainability Education for Prosperous Schools). Project was launched by J. Palárik Primary School in Majcichov in November 2022 together with six other partners from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. We would like to inform you about how our project is progressing and what is still ahead of us. The project is progressing successfully and we are approaching the goal - to support teachers in the 1st and 2nd grade of elementary school in teaching the subject of Sustainability.

What tasks have we already completed in the project?

We have completed 2 years in the project and the first output of the project - Material for students on the topic of sustainability, environmental education and healthy nutrition was translated into 4 languages (SK, CZ, ENG, BG). It is currently being piloted at our partner schools. At the beginning of the pilot, we used a questionnaire to verify the topic of sustainability among students. The results confirmed how important it is to teach future generations about this topic. We are finalizing the visual of the 2nd output of the project - Methodological guidelines for teachers. We continue to work on the completion of the 3rd output – Training course for teachers.

What tasks are ahead of us in the next period.

In November, all partners will meet at the third online project meeting. The content of the meeting will be the completion and evaluation of the piloting of student materials at schools and their necessary adjustments after comments. The results of the other two outputs of the project will also be translated into 4 languages in the near future and published on the project's website. We will continue to edit the project website so that it will be useful and fun for all users after the end of the project.

we have published the third newsletter dedicated to the Innovative STEPS international project (Innovative SusTainability Education for Prosperous Schools), which the J. Palárik Primary School in Majcichov started implementing in November 2022 together with six other partners from three European countries - from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. In this way, we would like to provide you with information about how we continue in our project and also about what there is still ahead of us. The project is successfully in creative process and we believe that together with you we will be able to support teachers in the 1st and 2nd grade of elementary school in teaching the subject of Sustainability.

On April 25 and 26, 2024, we participated in the fifth multinational project meeting at our partners Raabe in Sofia, Bulgaria. After the project dinner, we continued with the project meeting. The goal of the meeting was to complete the Materials for Students - their translation into 4 language versions, the creation of the final version of the Questionnaire for students, the completion of the Methodological Manual for Teachers and the development of a Course for Teachers Education. Our partners from Sofia were excellent hosts, again we managed to do a lot of creative work and at the same time, there was a cheerful atmosphere.

What have we already managed to do in the project?

We have completed almost a year and a half in the project and the first output of the project - Material for Students on the topic of sustainability, environmental education and healthy nutrition is almost finished. All 10 lessons from each concept are in the pre-final version, followed by the addition of details and piloting at our partner schools. We agreed on how to complete the Methodological Manual for Teachers, how to verify the topic of sustainability with the students in the project with a Questionnaire. We continue to work on the development of an Educational Course for Teachers.



The Excursion at specialized STEM centre in 68 SU "Acad. Nikola Obreshkov" was a highlight.

On April 25 and 26, 2024, the fifth international meeting of the Innovative STEPS (Innovative SusTainability Education for Prosperous Schools) project was held in Sofia.
Within the framework of the meeting, the participants visited 68 SU "Acad. Nikola Obreshkov", Sofia - one of the project partners in Bulgaria. The project team was kindly welcomed by the director of the school Mrs. Rumyana Partsova, as well as by teachers and students of the school.
Together with our partners from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, we had the opportunity to observe activities and presentations of students, in which they showed us their knowledge and ideas about healthy eating, a more efficient lifestyle without waste, and we realized that even among the youngest it is fashionable to be eco. The enthusiasm and motivation of the fifth, sixth and seventh graders blew us away. We took a closer look at the school's wonderful STEM centre.
At the end, the talented students from the stained glass club delighted us with a surprise gift for each participant in the meeting. We boldly stand behind the phrase: "The future is your classroom today."

What awaits us in the near future.

In the near future, we plan to publish the first results from all project outputs (after translation into four languages) on the project's online platform. We will continue to modify the platform so that it is useful and fun for all users after the end of the project.
Seeing ready-made colourful activities for students is a great feeling, keep your fingers crossed! :)

On 25th and 26th of April, we met in Raabe Sofia Bulgaria on the 5th transnational project meeting. Great hosts, good food, lot of creative work and lot of fun as well. : ) Thanx to everybody, hope to see you soon!: )

On October 23rd and 24th, 2023, we participated in the fourth transnational project meeting at the Faculty of Education of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. We started with a project dinner and continued with a project meeting. The aim of the meeting was to develop materials for students, discuss the methodological manual and create a course for teachers training. Our partners from the university were excellent hosts, we managed to do a lot of creative work and at the same time there was a cheerful atmosphere.

What have we already managed to do in the project?

We have completed almost a year in the project and the first goal of the project - material for students on the topic of sustainability, environmental education and healthy nutrition - is getting off to a good start. The first four lessons from each concept saw the light of day, content, color, design and we are happy about it. We agreed on a manual of methodological instructions for teachers, on how to test the achievements of students in the project, we also managed the design of the training course for teachers.

We tried the first lessons in class with the students, and we are happy that they are interested in these topics. For example, they know how to make a Jojo from plastic lids as part of recycling materials, and they are starting to think about whether they buy healthy food in stores.

What awaits us in the near future.

The development of additional learning resources for students, 6 more lessons in Environmental Studies and 6 more in Healthy Nutrition is ahead of us. Later, we will start the piloting with the students and fine-tuning the already finished materials. Seeing ready-made colorful activities for students is a really great feeling, keep your fingers crossed! :)
