Matematika na UP Famnit

Dr. Kenny Bešter Štorgel, assistant with a PhD at UP FAMNIT, is the first recipient of the Ivan Vidav Award. The new distinction for outstanding research achievements of early-career mathematicians will, from this year onward, be awarded every three years by DMFA Slovenia. Dr. Bešter Štorgel will receive the award at the society’s general assembly on Tuesday, March 17, at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana, where he will also present his research work.

Prvi prejemnik Nagrade Ivana Vidava je dr. Kenny Bešter Štorgel, asistent z doktoratom na UP FAMNIT. Novo priznanje za najboljše raziskovalne dosežke matematikov in matematičark na začetku kariere bo od letos vsaka tri leta podeljevalo DMFA Slovenije. Dr. Bešter Štorgel bo nagrado prejel na občnem zboru društva v torek, 17. marca, na Fakulteta za matematiko in fiziko Univerze v Ljubljani, kjer bo tudi predstavil svoje raziskovalno delo.

Dr. Blas Fernández from the Department of Mathematics at UP FAMNIT has been selected to join the European Mathematical Society Young Academy (EMYA) for the term 2026–2029.

EMYA recognizes outstanding early-career mathematicians across Europe. Selection to EMYA highlights not only exceptional scientific achievement but also a demonstrated commitment to advancing the mathematical community through research, collaboration, and outreach.

This week, we hosted the 21st International Applied Statistics International Conference. The event brought together 110 researchers and experts from 18 countries working in data analysis, data science, and statistics.

📊V Kopru smo ta teden gostili že 21. mednarodno konferenco Applied Statistics. Dogodek je povezal 110 raziskovalcev in strokovnjakov iz 18 držav, ki se ukvarjajo z analizo podatkov, podatkovno znanostjo in statistiko.

🎥𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗸 𝟲. 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗮 𝗰𝗶𝗸𝗹𝗮: Po sledeh prstnih odtisov s teorijo grafov

Na predavanju je predavatelj na kratko predstavil nekaj osnov teorije grafov in nato še določene značilne vzorce prstnih odtisov. Na koncu pa dodal še enostaven algoritem za prepoznavanje prstnih odtisov.

Predaval je Kenny Štorgel, ki se raziskovalno ukvarja pretežno s teorijo grafov, predvsem z algoritmično, kromatično in strukturno teorijo grafov. V okviru svojega dela pa deluje tudi na drugih področjih povezanih z računalništvom.
