Most dads can build furniture, fix pipes and parallel park like a pro. A ponytail or a braid? That's a different challenge entirely.

At our inaugural Fathers' Day event, Papas & Ponytails, our dads stepped into something new — how to tie and braid hair for their little ones. The afternoon was filled with laughter all around, as dads were determined to unlock some new skills!

The event also featured a sharing by Joshua Liong, Principal Trainer at Focus on the Family Singapore , who spoke about how fathers can nurture their children's emotional wellbeing through everyday moments of love, presence and connection.

Because filling a child's love tank isn't always about grand gestures. Often, it's as simple as tying a ponytail, sharing a laugh, and most importantly - making time to be present.

Not all dinosaurs are scary. Some just want to be friends!

This Book Club Day, our little ones stepped into a prehistoric adventure inspired by “I'm Not Scary, I'm Just a Dinosaur” by Ben Lerwill.

The story came to life through a series of hands-on experiences. Children rescued dinosaur eggs, shaped bread into their own prehistoric creations, uncovered fossils, and took part in games that had our budding palaeontologists cheering, running, and working together along the way.

Through play, imagination, and storytelling, they discovered that even the fiercest-looking dinosaurs can have a friendly side after all.

At Star Learners, nutritious meals are never an afterthought.

We are proud to share that 42 of our centres were recognised at the Health Promotion Board's () Healthy Meals in Pre-schools Programme (HMPP) Enduring Excellence Award Ceremony, making us part of the first batch of preschools in Singapore to receive this honour.

The award recognises preschools that have consistently met HMPP standards across multiple assessment cycles. Beyond that, our centres work thoughtfully to balance nutrition and variety, helping children develop healthy eating habits while encouraging them to explore new tastes from a young age.

We are especially proud of Ms Wendy, Principal of Star Learners @ Upper Bukit Timah, who represented Star Learners at the ceremony to share her centre's journey in fostering healthy eating habits among young children.

Thank you to our kitchen teams and educators, whose care and dedication help make every mealtime a positive and meaningful experience for our children.

Our children travelled back in time, stepping into the world of Singapore’s early settlers, discovering how spices were traded, how hawker culture took root, and what daily life was like for the coolies, merchants, and other pioneers who shaped our city.

The little ones immersed themselves in the experience as they explored different roles, learnt about goods of yesteryear, and tried their hands at ancient art forms like shadow puppetry.

Through this, children began to see the rich histories that unfold from simple, everyday items. A pod of chilli, a pandan leaf, and a bowl of hawker fare can have much deeper roots than we imagine!

As part of partnering our parents in their parenting journeys, we invited our families to spend a morning at Bishan Public Library, where we explored the joy of reading together.

One of our Chinese teachers, Yun Lao Shi, led a storytelling session and a workshop, sharing tips with parents on co-reading, building independent Chinese reading habits, and bringing stories to life at home.

To further nurture the children’s love for reading, an experienced librarian guided them on navigating the shelves, finding stories that are right for them, and how to care for borrowed books.

For their very first Career Day, our little ones welcomed very special guests: SCDF paramedics and Chef Malcolm Lee from Candlenut, one of Singapore's Michelin-starred restaurants.

They asked questions, explored real tools and got a glimpse into what a day in each of their shoes actually looks like.

Then came a hands-on lesson on food science. Blue pea flower juice + squeeze of lemon = a tasty purple drink!

Through it all, our children picked up new vocabulary, discovered new possibilities and left with a few new answers to the age-old question: what do you want to be when you grow up?

Some of our most thoughtful educators move quietly through their days, leaving impressions long after the children have grown.

Lu Cong, a Senior Preschool Educator at Star Learners @ Bishan Central, is one of them. Nearly a decade into the field, she still goes about her day with one question close to heart: "If this were my child, would I be comfortable with this?"

In her classroom, there are no wrong answers. A child's idea, however small, is worth listening to. Through this openness, children find their voice, and the courage to use it.

Outside the classroom, Lu Cong creates. From crochet to handmade crafts, she finds joy in slow, intentional creations. In 2025, she stepped out of her comfort zone to enter SPH's Thumbs Up Little Junior Nursery Rhyme Competition. Out of over 900 entries, her original piece earned a Consolation Prize and was selected to be performed on stage.

"I didn't think I was that outstanding," she shares. "I just focused on doing it well."

That mindset, quietly courageous and entirely her own, finds its way back into her classroom every day.
