[[ I WONDER … ]]
I wonder who invented this amazing dish.
I recalled my days as a young boy, and I would cough when Mom cooked sambal chilli.
Mom seldom cooked these days, and I was told that a shop opposite Kong Hwa school that sells this dish.
As soon as I hung up the call, I hopped onto my car and zoom to the shop, way before dinner crowd.
Like the fireman jumping into the fire-engine, minus the siren. I was on a mission and I asked the universe for smooth traffic. And I reached there in no time, parking lots aplenty.
The dish came and it was exactly like how mom would cook it. The taste – exactly the way I remembered as a child.
While my hands, eyes and mouth are working non-stop to bring the spoon to my mouth, my mind drifted to a conversation with a participant some time ago.
She was in manufacturing and her boss had just announced plans to shift the factories to India.
She panicked and cried as she described the demons in her head …. homeless, put being bars, failures, face splashed all over newspapers, public shame, her children kneeling down on the streets begging for food, neighbours looking down on her, parents disown her….
After a min or so, I stopped her. I shared with her my experiences which were very similar.
I told her to stop feeding her demons which would only become bigger and then one day, maybe she will become mental patient.
In the old days, working was the only option to bring home money.
Today, with internet and smart devices, this belief is forever invalid.
One can easily create another few streams of income using a smart phone or PC.
Examples of other streams of income are ….. E-commerce …Network Marketing … Businesses … Fixed Deposits … Affiliate Marketing … Intellectual Rights … Leasing a property to sublease it out at higher value.
As long as one is willing to learn, unlearn and relearn, one can create endless possibilities in life.
By now, she was calmer and I fed her with more information …. like who are the real experts in the markets whom she can learn from and model to success. Learning from fake teachers will only result in losing precious money and irreplaceable time.
Our conversations ended in the next few minutes and I saw her leaving the room with a smile and confident. I have just lighted up her world. And she has also lighted up mine.
Helping another person to be happy will bring joy to myself. Joy is priceless. It gives me energy to face the next challenge.
It’s like the person who runs this restaurant. I imagine him loving to see his customers happy from the food his Grandfather had created. And in return he will experience joy plus wealth.
This probably explains why this person, the owner, a young muscular man, smiling despite so being so busy.
I open my blackberry calendar and plan a date for next visit.
The sky got dark by the time we finished the meal. It’s a cool night with crescent moon. Time to drive home, with the top cover down, and a silly smile.
I drove to my next appointment, to meet my couch.
