SOMEBODY CALL 911

A big part of being diagnosed with HIV that is often overlooked is the emotional and mental impact that it can have. Here are some of the social support that is available to help PLHIV cope with their diagnosis.

COUNSELLING
Private counselling with a medical social worker (MSW) to cope with the diagnosis and receive advice on treatment.

SOCIAL SUPPORT GROUPS
Meet with other PLHIV to discuss and share experiences.

SUPPORT TO SIGNIFICANT OTHERS
MSWs can help with disclosure to loved ones, or provide more information for their benefit.

EMPLOYMENT
MSWs can provide advice on employment issues, or help with legal matters if you feel you have been wrongfully terminated.

You don't have to go through this alone! Speaking with your social worker and making use of the available resources will help to lighten the load.

In case you missed our event or want to revisit Brandon's story (and also, find out a little bit more about our campaign), here it is courtesy of The New Paper!

In one of the other stories we collected, a teenager living with HIV mentioned that he wished that the topic of HIV would feature more often in public discourse.

We hope that this would inspire more people to come out and keep the conversation going!
