Jay’s musical journey began at the age of 4 when he joined the Yamaha Junior Music Course (JMC). This early training helped him develop strong musicianship skills and the ability to ‘play by ear,’ setting the foundation for his growth as a pianist. His dedication to music led him to achieve ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Theory, both with Distinction, a testament to his talent and hard work.
Jay pursued professional music studies at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore, where he refined his skills under expert guidance. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor’s of Music (Hons) in Piano Performance from the Royal College of Music, London, through its collaboration with NAFA, solidifying his expertise in classical piano performance.
In addition to his classical repertoire, Jay is passionate about arranging music and improvisation, showcasing his creativity and versatility as a musician. Currently, he is a full-time music teacher dedicated to inspiring the next generation of musicians. Jay strives to nurture not only technical excellence in his students but also a lifelong love for music.
