When we see the tug-of-war over a toy, our first instinct is to step in. It’s hard to sit with their discomfort and even harder to resist fixing it for them.

But when we step back just enough, we give children the room to try. We listen to the big feelings on both sides, help them put names to their emotions and hold space for them to find a way forward. It’s a slow, quiet process, but this is where empathy and communication are actually built.

Conflict isn’t a behavioral failure. It’s a child’s first, honest attempt at learning how to live and work alongside others.

What is your natural instinct when a conflict breaks out - to fix, to distract or to observe?

The daily reminder we all need 💛

So much of our day lives in the spaces between the lessons. Caring for children takes a steady patience and a soft heart - and watching them find their footing, little by little, is a gift we get to witness every day. One we don’t take for granted 🧡

What a week at Pebble Kopitiam! ☕️🍞🍉

It was a core memory in the making, and a true team effort. With a lot of guidance (and patience) from the adults, the children took on everything from prepping ingredients and taking orders to serving food and welcoming our community with the biggest energy.

Of course, a real kopitiam comes with real chaos! We have had coffee spills, an unusually long wait for watermelon juice and some hilariously aggressive marketing tactics. 😆 But beneath it all, there was so much joy, ownership and real, hands-on learning.

We are so grateful for our village. Thank you to our families, the community, MP and her team, and every single person who stopped by to encourage the children. And a huge shoutout to our incredible educators for gently holding the space and making the magic happen behind the scenes.

And with that, we’ll be closing our Kopitiam with full hearts 👋🏻

The heart of early childhood cannot be automated. While our society leans heavily on metrics and measurable outcomes, this work relies entirely on what cannot be measured. It’s a practice that can only be guided by intuition, living in the unscripted moments no curriculum could ever fully capture.

Our days have always been about so much more than lesson plans and learning outcomes. It is the steady presence, the patience, the attentiveness and the countless invisible decisions our educators make every single day to help a child feel safe, capable and deeply known.

In a world where AI can answer almost any question, perhaps this is the reminder we need most: children still need human beings.

Lunch time is so much more than just getting nutrition into a child’s body. It is a daily rhythm where children build a healthy relationship with food, community and one another. Learning to wait for friends, care for shared spaces and move through routines with thoughtfulness and respect.

And somehow, food always tastes a little better when you dish it yourself. While we navigate a natural learning curve with the spills and portion limits, our educators are quietly observing, guiding and getting to know each child’s unique rhythms a little more deeply. 🥣✨

So, would you let your child scoop their own rice? We’d make to know 😌

Apparently food tastes better when you’ve dished it out yourself! While we navigate a natural learning curve with spills and portion limits, our educators are using this time to truly observe and understand each child’s unique rhythms.
