近日,在南洋商学院EMBA(中文)美国学段,斯坦福大学崔屹教授在《从实验室到市场的可持续技术》课程中,对科技商业化进行了深刻的“祛魅”。他指出,真正的挑战,在于能否跨越从实验室到市场的两道“死亡谷”(Valleys of Death)。

🌉 第一道死亡谷:从“技术可行”到“产品可用” (From Technically Feasible to Product Usable) 实验室里的技术,未必天然等同于一个可被用户接受、可稳定交付、可解决真实问题的产品。技术追求的是“极限参数”,而产品追求的是“问题与解决方案的完美契合”(Problem-solution fit)。跨越此谷,意味着必须将科学语言转化为用户体验。

📈 第二道死亡谷:从“产品可用”到“商业可及” (From Product Usable to Commercially Viable) 即使产品原型诞生,领导者仍需直面商业化的灵魂三问:
🔷 成本边界:能否以足够低的边际成本进行生产?
🔷 规模化能力:能否在放大产能的同时,保持质量的绝对稳定?
🔷 市场契合度:它是否真正满足了市场的长期、刚性需求?
这正是许多前沿学术成果最终未能实现商业化的根本原因。

💡 领导者的思维跃迁:从“科学家”到“企业家” 对科技领导者而言,关键不是孤立地评估技术本身的先进性,而是更早地注入商业思维。在技术萌芽期,就必须前置思考产品定义、重构成本结构、规划规模化路径,并对市场需求保持敬畏。

In hard-tech entrepreneurship, the hardest part is often not the science but what happens after the breakthrough.

At the Nanyang EMBA (Chinese) US module, Stanford Professor Cui Yi shared a grounded view on how technologies actually make it out of the lab. He described two “Valleys of Death” that many innovations get stuck in long before they reach the market.

The first is the gap between something that works in theory and something people can actually use. Lab success is not the same as real-world usability. Products need to be simple, reliable, and genuinely solve a user problem, not just demonstrate technical strength.

The second gap is even tougher: turning a usable product into a viable business. That means getting cost, scale, and demand all aligned at the same time, something many advanced technologies struggle to achieve.

In the end, the shift is less about better engineering and more about better judgment, knowing early on whether something can truly survive outside the lab.

Most conversations about AI focus on what it can do in the office. Yet some of its most significant impact may happen far from our desks.

At the Nanyang EMBA (Chinese) programme, Professor Wen Yonggang of Nanyang Technological University explored how AI is transforming the physical world through what he calls the "F4" framework: factories, construction sites, transport fleets, and facilities. These are the systems that consume vast amounts of energy every day, and where smarter decisions can translate into meaningful efficiency gains.

What makes Industrial AI interesting is that it is not simply about doing things faster. It is about helping complex systems continuously optimise how they operate, reducing waste, improving resource utilisation, and supporting a more sustainable future.

创业,首先要有明确目标。

锂电池、固态电池、钠电池,太阳能与风能,已经成为备受关注的热门赛道。但下一阶段真正值得企业家关注的,或许是那些成本仍高、技术尚未完全突破、却具备巨大规模化潜力的领域。

例如,从空气中捕集二氧化碳,将生物质高效转化为生物炭,让被拆除的钢筋混凝土重新进入循环,以及为每年数亿吨塑料寻找新的再利用路径。

可持续发展的未来,不只是创造新材料、新能源,更是重新理解“废弃物”的价值。真正的创新,不是追逐风口,而是带着目标,把技术从实验室带向市场,把想法转化为真正的影响力。

真正的技术创业,往往始于一个尚未被解决的大问题。

During the US segment of the Nanyang EMBA (Chinese) programme, Professor Yi Cui from Stanford University shared his thoughts on sustainable technology and entrepreneurship.​

One simple idea he emphasised was that entrepreneurship should start with a clear problem. It’s not about how advanced a technology is, but whether it actually solves something real and important.​

He also pointed out that while areas like lithium batteries, solid-state batteries, solar and wind energy are already widely explored, some of the bigger opportunities may still lie in the harder, less “solved” spaces — such as carbon capture, biomass conversion, concrete recycling, and large-scale plastic reuse.​

What Professor Yi Cui highlighted is that sustainability is not only about new materials or energy systems, but also about rethinking waste and finding value in what we already have.​

A good reminder that meaningful innovation often starts with the right problem, not the next trend.​

This US module has been a powerful reset for both mind and heart. It wasn’t just another overseas class, but a journey that refreshed how I think, learn and lead.

The most unforgettable moments came from being in Stanford’s classrooms, engaging face to face with world-class faculty. Instead of simply listening, we questioned, debated and dug into topics I had been curious about for years, turning theory into sharp, practical insight.

很多人以为,会计就是做报表。
但真正高级的会计,不是“生成信息”,而是“认知实质”。
一家企业总资产很大,营业收入却不高,说明什么?

不是简单地说它“规模大”。 而是要进一步判断:
它的资产是否真正服务于经营? 经营资产是否产生了足够收入?
无形资产、开发支出、商誉是否过高?
企业的扩张,是靠扎实经营,还是靠并购、资本化和账面资产堆出来的?
未来会被替代的,是信息生成型会计。
不会被替代的,是能透过财务数据看懂企业本质的人。

If accounting is merely about compiling reports and generating information, that part of the work will inevitably be replaced by technology.

What remains truly valuable is the ability to use financial data to understand the real substance of an organisation.

A company with large assets is not necessarily a strong company. When operating assets are high but revenue remains relatively low, it may point to weak asset efficiency, an imbalance in business rhythm, or questionable asset quality.

The warning signs become even clearer when intangible assets, development expenditure, and goodwill account for a large share of operating assets.

The real question is not whether the numbers look impressive. It is whether those assets are truly supporting sustainable business growth.

The future of accounting belongs not to those who only produce reports, but to those who can read what lies behind them.
