• Cloudy with a 100% chance of failure •

I have been reading ’ book, Becoming and Beholding. Apart from being absolutely gorgeous on the outside, the pages are overflowing with gems of insight, so very valuable for a reflective life! I was inspired to letter this phrase as a reminder to self after reading chapter 8: In Praise of Failure.

I won’t post spoilers here, but I highly recommend making this book a staple part of your personal library if you enjoy Ruth’s insights and writing style (I do, a lot!).

This is actually part of a slightly longer piece which I’m not done with yet, but I thought it was so cool to see some interesting effects emerge as I experimented with ways to create dimension in the letters. So much fun.

Today’s artwork is inspired by two things:

1. ’ incredible tutorial! Those 5 minutes taught me so much and helped me realise that I was going about some things in a very long winded and painful fashion. Well not anymore. This was such a joy to create! And still on very heavy rotation is the Halftone brush from ’s Rough and Raw set. It’s the absolute best for creating the texture I love.

1. This morning’s worship session. Being confined to home means no longer gathering on church on Sundays. It’s been about 9 weeks since we stopped out in-person services. That was the anchor of my week and I really miss that. Online services have been great, just not quite the same. But this morning’s worship was beautiful and this song about our Great Defender is sticking with me. How has your church at home experience been?

Imagine my complete excitement when I found out that not only can you make digital text + images in Procreate, but also animate them 😱 this changes EVERYTHING!! And it’s so quick and easy to put something simple together like this☝🏼of course, it took me about 10x longer, being the total noob that I am. Textures are awesome brushes made by , which I got from .

Anyway, this is a message that I’m sending to all of you who struggle with feelings of inadequacy. This is something that I’m confronted with daily and I’m learning that the best thing for me to do is not to run away from it or attempt to cover it up by doing more, but to acknowledge its existence and to get to know it better - where it comes from, why it is there, and through it, what the Holy Spirt wants me to know. Start by recognising that you *are* enough. I know I’m not alone in this, so be sure to tag someone who needs to know this too.

Daily life is the classroom where you learn to take your despondent, worry-filled, burden-laden existence and trade it in for another that’s worth living. Today was one of those days where this experience couldn’t be more real. Lord, help me keep my eyes and heart on the other life I would much rather be all about - that Spirit-abiding, joy-finding, fruit-bearing life lived in love.

Well, look at me - I just created my first video in Adobe Premiere Rush. It was so cool to have access to all these text and graphics effects! I was literally feeling like a kid in a candy store and had to try SUPER hard to restrain myself from applying all the different effects all at once. I can totally see why it’s a popular choice for YouTubers and other video content creators. So anyway, I put this together to let you all know about my Modern Calligraphy workshop scheduled on 15 June.
