The Caring Teacher Awards, started in 1996, is a biennial event that honours teachers who show exceptional care and concern for the holistic development of their students, going the extra mile to help them grow into confident and independent learners. The Awards are organised by NIE NTU, Singapore, with support from ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and the Ministry of Education.

Beyond lessons and grades, great teachers make their students feel seen, supported and believed in. ❤️

The You vs You Mindset 🌟 | JC1 Dialogue with Principal

What happens when our JC1 students get the opportunity to have an open and candid conversation with our Principal, Mr Pang? Plenty of thoughtful questions, insightful perspectives and even some very practical concerns! 😊

Our recent JC1 Dialogue with Principal was a lively exchange, with our J1s raising questions on a wide range of topics -from opportunities within and beyond the College, to how NYJCians can contribute to and volunteer in the community as trailblazers, and, of course, something close to every student’s heart - lunch hours at the canteen! 🍜

We were also delighted to welcome back our alumna, Cheryl Phang (2403), who is currently pursuing Music at NUS on the Yong Siew Toh Scholarship. 🎶

Asked, “What is one thing you would tell your J1 self?”, Cheryl shared candidly about the importance of time management and finding a balance between academics, CCA and pursuing what you are passionate about.

She also spoke passionately about her experience with NY Crescendo, her Student-Interest Group (SIG) in songwriting - a wonderful reminder that some of the most meaningful parts of the JC journey begin when students have the courage to pursue an interest, take initiative and create something of their own.

Thank you, Mr Pang, our ECG Counsellor Mr Shaun , Cheryl, and our JC1 students for making the dialogue such an engaging and meaningful one. Most important, our Student Council for organising this dialogue session.

As the theme of the session reminds us, “The You vs You Mindset” is ultimately about challenging ourselves to grow, explore new possibilities and become better versions of ourselves. 💪

Congratulations to Our MHA Scholar, Iris Tan! 🎉

Nanyang Junior College is proud to congratulate Tan Kiat Sim, Iris (Class 2319) on being awarded the Ministry of Home Affairs – Singapore Prison Service Local Merit Scholarship at the Singapore Police Force Scholarship & Ministry of Home Affairs Scholarships Award Ceremony 2026. 🇸🇬

Iris received her scholarship from Minister for Home Affairs Mr K. Shanmugam yesterday evening, marking a significant milestone in her journey towards serving Singapore through the Home Team.

During her time at NYJC, Iris distinguished herself not only through her achievements but also through her leadership and commitment as Vice-Captain of Tchoukball. The qualities she demonstrated as an NYJCian will continue to serve her as she contributes to the Singapore Prison Service and the nation.

Our Principal, Mr Pang, also attended the ceremony to congratulate Iris and her family and share in this proud moment.

Congratulations, Iris! We are proud of you and look forward to your continued leadership, service, and impact.

On12 August, our Humanities Department welcomed back four inspiring alumni for a sharing session on life after graduation. They opened up about navigating the pull between personal passion and financial stability, overcoming challenges along the way, honing their interview skills, and how AI is reshaping their respective industries.

With backgrounds spanning law, marketing, user design, and public service, our panelists gave our students a rich, real-world glimpse into just how varied — and rewarding — a humanities education can be, providing them with valuable insights into future career pathways.

Our warmest congratulations to our alumni who were conferred their scholarships at the Defence Scholarships Awards Ceremony 2026. These alumni join a prestigious cohort of graduates who will be groomed and developed for key military, civil service and defense-technology careers.

Our heartiest congratulations to our students on their outstanding performance in the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) 2026 competition organised by the Australian Maths Trust (AMT)!

The CAT is an international problem-solving competition that develops students' computational thinking and algorithmic reasoning skills through challenging tasks that require logical analysis and structured problem-solving, without the need for prior programming experience.
We are proud to celebrate the achievements of the following students:

Nanyang Junior College has officially achieved the Gold Award in the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) Category 2 for 2026! This remarkable achievement marks our college's 5th consecutive year securing the prestigious institutional GOLD Award.
This annual national competition, organized by the Singapore Mathematical Society (SMS), stands as Singapore’s most rigorous and prestigious mathematics arena. It challenges the nation's brightest minds to display extraordinary analytical ability, creativity, and mathematical perseverance.

At the presentation, our sole individual Gold Medallist, Pham Luan Khang (CT 2528) presented the institutional Category 2 Gold Award to our Principal, Mr Pang.
In addition, we have 13 Silver Medallists who proved also their elite problem-solving capabilities on the national stage, as well as 12 Bronze Medallists who also showed exceptional tenacity and analytical skill.

A massive congratulations to all our individual medallists! We look forward to seeing them continue to push the boundaries of their academic fields.
