The Community Leadership Programme (CLP) is one of NYJC’s flagship leadership development initiatives, designed for a select group of student leaders. In collaboration with the Braddell Heights Citizens’ Consultative Committee (CCC), a series of activities are organised for participants. These activities range from learning journeys to social service offices to direct engagements with Mr. Seah Kian Peng, Member of Parliament for the area, and grassroots leaders, through which students gain firsthand insight into their work with the community. This year marks the 13th year this programme has been going on, and is extra special for all student participants and residents, as Braddell Heights celebrates its 50th anniversary. Yesterday afternoon, and this morning, all the months of discussion and planning saw their fruition, in the forms of community events Tide Together - Celebrating BH 50 (Zone A), Growing Together (Zone B)_and Our People’s Academy (Zone C). Here’s to many more years of joint community building and togetherness.

The Pre-University Seminar is the annual pinnacle seminar organised for pre-university students. It invites student participants to reflect on Singapore’s past, present and future challenges, as well as the values and fundamentals that have anchored the nation’s continued progress. The theme this year is 'WE: With Everyone’, and after months of preparation, our students moved into NUS U-Town from the 2nd to 5th of June, where they collaborated with their peers from other institutions, finalized their presentations and had vibrant dialogues discussing the nation's way forward. They were happily joined by none other than our Principal Mr. Pang Choon How during the closing ceremony, and it was a fruitful experience for all of them.

On Monday, 25th May, our JC2 Galileo students had the privilege of hosting Ms. Joyce Kua, Director of Innovation Ecosystem Development at Enterprise Singapore, for our latest Galileo Leadership Series!

The Galileo Leadership Series is all about expanding horizons—inviting trailblazing leaders from all walks of life to share their personal journeys, broaden our global awareness, and inspire us to chase our passions with courage.

With a career spanning economic and social policy development across key ministries (including MOE, MTI, and MDDI) and promoting global trade in the Europe Division, Ms. Kua shared invaluable insights on:
🌱 Growing Innovation Capacity: How local enterprises are driven to innovate and scale.
🤝 Ecosystem Collaboration: The power of cross-sector partnerships in shaping Singapore’s economic future.
🌍 Global Mindsets: Navigating international markets and building cross-border connections.

Our JC2 Galileos were buzzing with curiosity! The Q&A session was packed with interesting and thought-provoking questions, reflecting the vibrant energy and drive of our students.

A huge thank you to Ms. Joyce Kua for her time, wisdom, and for inspiring us to keep dreaming big and acting boldly!

2026 National School Games Floorball Girls' Championship (A Division) 28/05/2026

Proud of our floorball teams for the grit, resilience and heart shown throughout the competition today.

Our boys fought hard to finish as 2nd runners-up, while our girls emerged as 1st runners-up. Beyond the results, what stood out most was the teamwork, determination and fighting spirit displayed on court from start to finish.

Thank you to our coaches, teachers, supporters and everyone who stood by the teams through every match. And to our players — thank you for representing the school with pride, discipline and heart.

During NYReach last week, the college Research Committee organised NY Research Day, which saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff alike.

The main highlight of the event was the Research Symposium, where student researchers from various research programmes showcased their projects through poster presentations. The symposium was judged by our Guest of Honour, Prof Joachim Loo, Associate Dean (Undergraduate) from the College of Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, alongside our Principal, Mr Pang.

The event also featured interactive booths organised by various SIGs, showcasing science-related activities connected to everyday life. Some groups even designed science-themed escape rooms, where participants had to solve puzzles through critical thinking and teamwork. In addition, there was a team challenge segment where students formed groups to compete in a series of science-based games and activities. NTU College of Engineering also brought in an aerospace engineering flight simulator setup, giving students an opportunity to experience and better understand the fundamentals of flying.

Students from two secondary schools in our neighbourhood also joined us for this year’s event to learn more about research and the applications of science in everyday life.

The day concluded with an inspiring research talk by Prof Joachim, who shared insights on the role of engineering in shaping our world and future. Through his talk, students discovered how engineering enables us to explore and interact with the world across vastly different scales, from nanomaterials to galaxies, using technologies such as advanced imaging systems and telescopes. He also highlighted Singapore’s efforts towards food resilience through innovations in aquaculture and sustainable engineering solutions.
