Kumon Cambodia

Kumon Cambodia Kumon originated from Japan, the world's largest after-school enrichment programme, and operates in more than 60 countries and regions.

Kumon opened its doors in Cambodia in 2017, offering Maths and English classes in the 8 Centres in Phnom Penh. Kumon was founded in Japan in 1954. What began as a fatherโ€™s love for his son became what is now known as the Kumon Method of Learning. At Kumon, we never forgot the beginning of the Kumon Method, nor the ideology and lessons by our founder Toru Kumon. We continue to develop the worksheet

s and improve our instructions in order to provide the โ€œjust-rightโ€ instructions to the students, faithful to the central tenets of the Kumon Method. Today, Kumon is the world's largest after-school enrichment programme with more than 3.5 million students enrolled in over 23,700 Kumon Centers in 60 countries & regions. Right at this moment, someone, somewhere around the world is learning with Kumon. The first Kumon Centres in Cambodia first opened in 2017. Currently, there are a total of 8 Kumon Centres in Phnom Penh offering Maths and English classes. For enrolment, please visit-> https://kh.kumonasiaoceania.com

Learning English is more than knowing many words. Can your child understand and explain what they read? ๐Ÿ“–

With Kumon English, children develop their ability one small step at a time.

They begin by listening and repeating. Next, they learn to read words and understand sentences. As they progress, they learn to follow paragraphs, summarise important information and think more deeply about complex stories.

Every level builds on the one before itโ€”helping your child become a more confident and independent reader. ๐Ÿ’™

The first time your child reads a sentence without help may feel like a small momentโ€”but it began long before. ๐Ÿ’™

They listened. Repeated. Followed the words. Step by step, sounds became familiar, words became easier to recognise, and reading became more independent.

With Kumon English, children build reading skills at a level that is just right for themโ€”while discovering more words, more stories, and more confidence.

Listen. Read. Understand.

Reading the words is an important step. Understanding them is what helps children become stronger readers.

In Kumon English, children begin by listening and repeating while following the words they see. Step by step, they progress to reading aloud, understanding sentences and making sense of longer passages.

Because the journey is not only about reading the wordsโ€”it is about understanding their meaning and learning more independently. ๐Ÿ’™

Does your child find it difficult to follow instructions during homework time? ๐Ÿ‘‚

First, get their attention. Give one clear instruction, then allow them time to respond.

When children understand what to do next, they can focus and try on their own. ๐Ÿ’™

Try this simple approach during your childโ€™s next Kumon study session.

You remind them to begin. Ten minutes later, they still have not started.

They may not be ignoring you. Sometimes, children hear the words but need help understanding what to do first.

Get their attention, give one simple instruction and ask them what comes next.

Listening is an important learning skillโ€”built through small, everyday conversations. ๐Ÿ’™

Save this for later, or share it with another parent.

Today, he is in ๐†๐ซ๐š๐๐ž ๐Ÿ‘ and working on factorisationโ€”a topic typically introduced at secondary level.

โ€œMy child is already in Grade 3โ€”why does the Kumon work look easier than their schoolwork?โ€

Many parents ask this, especially when their child has just started Kumon.

Here is the reassurance: your child is not behind.

Kumon does not automatically begin from the childโ€™s school grade. The Diagnostic Test helps us find a starting point where your child can work accurately, confidently and with less help.

A comfortable start helps your child strengthen important foundations, develop good study habits and learn to complete work independently.

As their ability grows, the worksheets gradually become more challenging.

Sometimes, stronger progress begins by starting from the right place. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“Œ Save this for the days when you need reassuranceโ€”and share it with another parent who may have the same question.

Is the work too easy, too difficultโ€”or just right? ๐ŸŽฏ

Rushing, skipping steps or quickly losing interest may show that the work is not challenging enough.

Pausing often, guessing or waiting for help may mean that the work currently feels too difficult to manage independently.

Not every struggle means โ€œnot trying.โ€ Sometimes, a childโ€™s learning behaviour shows us that the level, pace, or support may not yet be matched.

When the challenge feels just right, children are more likely to focus, think and keep going with steady effort.

That is why Kumon identifies a suitable starting point based on what each child can currently do independently, before helping them progress step by step.

๐Ÿ“Œ Save this for your childโ€™s next study moment and notice how they approach the work, not only whether the answer is correct.

Did you notice how the child solved these questions? ๐Ÿ‘€

Instead of completing each question one by one, they first worked through the same place value across several questions.

Itโ€™s an interesting approach, but at Kumon, the final answers are only part of what we pay attention to.

At Kumon Cambodia, Instructors also observe where a child starts, how they think through each step, when they hesitate, and how independently they can work. These small details help us understand your childโ€™s learning style and plan what theyโ€™re ready to learn next.

Because every child in Cambodia learns differently, their Kumon journey should reflect that.

Did you spot the childโ€™s approach before the reveal? Share with us in the comments. ๐Ÿ’ญ
