Kumon originated from Japan, the world's largest after-school enrichment programme, and operates in more than 60 countries and regions.
Kumon opened its doors in Cambodia in 2017, offering Maths and English classes in the 8 Centres in Phnom Penh. Kumon was founded in Japan in 1954. What began as a father’s love for his son became what is now known as the Kumon Method of Learning. At Kumon, we never forgot the beginning of the Kumon Method, nor the ideology and lessons by our founder Toru Kumon. We continue to develop the worksheet
s and improve our instructions in order to provide the “just-right” instructions to the students, faithful to the central tenets of the Kumon Method. Today, Kumon is the world's largest after-school enrichment programme with more than 3.5 million students enrolled in over 23,700 Kumon Centers in 60 countries & regions. Right at this moment, someone, somewhere around the world is learning with Kumon. The first Kumon Centres in Cambodia first opened in 2017. Currently, there are a total of 5 Kumon Centres in Phnom Penh offering Maths and English classes.

School days can get busy — but a steady learning habit can help children stay on track. 💛
For young learners, consistency matters more than long study hours.
Even **10–15 minutes a day** can help children build focus, confidence and a positive attitude towards learning.
The goal is not to do more.
The goal is to keep going, little by little.
Save this post as a simple reminder for your child’s daily learning routine. ✨

🌟 What does ASHR mean?
At Kumon, learners progress according to their ability, not their age.
ASHR, the **Advanced Student Honour Roll**, recognises Kumon learners who are progressing ahead of their school grade level.
It is a meaningful way to celebrate steady effort, growing confidence and progress in learning — one milestone at a time.

Many children can complete work when someone guides them. ✏️
But what happens when no one shows the next step?
Is tuition helpful? Yes.
Guidance can help children understand better, practise regularly and feel supported when learning gets difficult.
But children also need something very important:
the chance to think, try, make mistakes and continue. 🌱
When learning is always guided, some children may get used to waiting for help. Before they even try, they may say:
“I don’t know how.”
Self-learning helps children build stronger learning habits.
It helps them look for clues.
It helps them stay calm when they are unsure.
It helps them try again after mistakes.
And slowly, it helps them say:
“Let me try first.” 💪
At Kumon, children study at their just-right level, where the work is matched to their current ability — not simply their age or school grade. With the right balance of guidance and challenge, children build confidence step by step.
Because the goal is not just to finish today’s worksheet.
It is to help children become independent learners who can keep learning, even when the next question looks unfamiliar. 🚀
Save this for the next time your child says, “I don’t know how.”
Sometimes, the best support is giving them space to think before stepping in. 🤍

To all mothers,
some of the greatest love is shown in the smallest moments—
in the waiting, the reminding, the encouraging, and the believing.
This Mother’s Day, we honour the quiet strength and steady love behind every child’s journey.
Happy Mother’s Day. 💙

“I don’t know.”
Many parents hear this… and quickly step in to help.
Because we care.
We don’t want our child to struggle.
But in that small moment, something important is happening.
Your child is learning:
👉 Do I try… or do I wait for help?
“I don’t know” doesn’t always mean they can’t.
Sometimes it means:
“I’m not sure yet.”
“I’m afraid to make a mistake.”
So instead of answering right away…
try pausing for a moment.
Gently encourage them to:
• think
• try
• take one small step
Even a small attempt matters.
Because confidence doesn’t come from being told.
It grows when a child realises:
👉 “I tried… and I can improve.”
At Kumon, we guide children step by step —
so they can learn to think and progress on their own, with confidence over time.
Small words. Big difference.
