This was our gift for our hula sister
We danced a hula to I Can Only Imagine which was a hula haku by our Kumu, Kumu Hula
The words and the ideas this Mele conveys are powerful
A story arc, by the songwriter or Haku Mele performed by Mercy Me, of love, forgiveness and reconciliation
Mahalo to our Kumu for passing this hula down to us
May this hula and mele touch the hearts of all the wedding guests

Throwback to and Kengo’s wedding party on April 11, 2026
Karin said it well when she introduced this Mele
Holo Wa’apā is about taking a canoe ride with a loved one
In order for the canoe, or the wa’a, to get anywhere the pair must paddle at the same speed and in the same direction
May we all paddle forward and IMUA with unity
Each grasping our paddles and paddling together in unison

At Makana, on the beautiful island of Kaua’i
There, the brave young men would hurl firebrands from the top of the mountain
More brave young men would paddle out on their wa’a to catch the firebrands and brand themselves to profess their love for their special girl
is definitely very very dear to us and we were so mesmerized as she danced to this romantic Mele for her Kengo

We witnessed our dear hula sister with Kengo San at the beautiful go through the traditional ceremonial rites at Togo Shrine
It was so beautiful
Of course the couple were splendidly beautiful as well
A real blessing for us visitors from Singapore to experience
Congratulations to the beautiful couple !
